Grab Your Greeting - 3 sets on Sale!

Stampin'UP!'s 25% off Sentiment Sale
Super cool! The new catalog just went live today and Stampin'UP! is offering a 25% discount on 3 of my favorite sentiment sets!
  • Petite Pairs
  • Sassy Salutations
  • Sweet Essentials
Those of you who stamp with me know that I use Petite Pairs a lot. One thing I especially like about this set is that you can use the stamps as matched pairs, one sentiment on the front of your card and the other on the inside.  But you can also use them alone. Check out this card with Last Year's new In colors, the words are elegant and small and fit anywhere.  Here's another card using the "Best Wishes" sentiment.
Stampin'UP!'s Petite Pairs stamp set.

Do you like the font for Sassy Salutations? The images in this set are larger and can be the main focal point themselves.  I actually have this set in my digital collection. You can see a digital card I made with Sassy Salutations here.
Stampin'UP!'s Sassy Salutations Stamp Set

Sweet Essentials is a very basic set. It can cover most occasions including birthday and thank-you, even though those 2 sentiments are not part of this set. And if you ink with markers (instead of an ink pad) you can use just the word hello as a generic greeting. Again, those of you who stamp with me will recognize this set as one we use often.
Stampin'UP!'s Sweet Essentials Stamp Set

All three of these stamp sets are in my sentiment collection. Would they be a good addition to yours?  If so, then be sure to take advantage of Stampin'UP!'s 20% off sale on these 3 sentiment sets - good through June 30th.  Order Yours Here

Tri-Fold Card from an Embossing Folder

Are you looking for a unique design idea for a card?  Try this: use an embossing folder to create the design and texture for a tri-fold card.

Because its a tri-fold card the paper is larger than normal - but you can still make this from a regular 8-1/2 x 11" piece of cardstock. Cut the card vertically into a piece that is 11" x 5-1/2" and score at 4-1/4", and 8-1/2" from one end.

Emboss each end separately for the tri-fold card. You'll have an embossed image on the front (left) flap and a debossed image on the inside (right) flap.   Then use a scissors to cut along the edges of the design.

The embossing was done with Stampin'UP!'s soon to be retired Manhattan Flower Embossing folder. This is one I'm really sad to see go.   I really like the classic look you get with this folder.  Here are a few of my favorites.

Used here as a background
This one used the lines for a
debossed sponge resist

The third card was embossed on shimmer paper and the image was cut out and mounted on a dark background.

The Manhattan Flower embossing folder is an exclusive Stampin'UP! design.  But like I said earlier - it is retiring the end of this monthOrder your's today before they're gone

Fish Punch Art with the Blossom Petal Punch

Punch Art Fish card made with Stampin'UP!'s Blossom Petal PunchOne more punch art project with the Blossom Petal Punch.  Have you been following my recent posts?  If so you know how much I'm going to miss the Blossom Petal Punch after it retires the end of this month.

This was so easy to make.
  • The fish is made of 1 of each size petal in the punch.
  • The seaweed is also punched
  • the sand at the bottom is torn edges
The only special thing I did was to sponge the edges of all the punched pieces to give them a little definition and help them stand out from the background.

Stampin'UP! is in the midst of a Catalog Transition.  This punch is in the old catalog but will not be in the new one, so if you want the punch its best to order now.  In fact, I confess I wrote this last Tuesday and then went on vacation.  I hope this punch is still available.

Here are a few links to catalogs and retiring product lists
Retiring stamps will be available until we get the new catalog

Punch Art Vase from the Blossom Builder Punch

Punch art with Stampin'UP! Blossom Petal PunchFlower Vases come in such a variety of shapes and sizes, so its easy to create a vase from a punched shape.

The Blossom Petal Builder Punch is retiring the end of this month - so before its gone I wanted to try using one of the petals for a vase.

To turn a punched piece into a vase all you need is a flat edge for the bottom.  I just couldn't decide which way to turn the petal.  I tried it both ways as you can see below.

Die Storage Boxes

Stampin'UP! Die Storage BoxesTime for Spring Cleaning!  How do you store your dies?  A customer asked me if I used Stampin'UP!'s die storage boxes and I thought share my answer.  Thanks for the question Becky.

Yes, I use these boxes.  They are a great way to keep my dies organized.  I also like that they help me keep inventory.  An empty slot means a die is missing - oops, time to clean my desk.

The small box is perfect for all my sizzlit dies, clearlit dies and embosslits.  There are so many slots that one box is all I need.  I've got plenty of room for all the great new product that Stampin'UP! will come out with in future years.

Stampin'UP! Die Storage Boxes
The large box is very versatile. You can see from the photos below how I use the large box.

The large box comes with 2 plastic inserts for holding the dies upright.  You can also buy extra inserts and set them on a shelf, without the box, as another way to store your dies.

How do you store your dies?  Leave a comment below to share with others.

How to Make a Pinwheel

Pinwheel card made with Stampin'UP!'s Pinwheel DiePinwheels are a quick, fun element to add to a card.  They're super easy to make. Here's 3 easy steps for how to make a pinwheel.

  1. Cut a square - any size
  2. Use a scissors to cut part way to the center from each corner
  3. Fold one flap from each corner to the center and secure

How to make a Pinwheel
You can click on these
photos to see them larger
How to make a PinwheelHow to make a Pinwheel
There is another way to make pinwheels too - you can use Stampin'UP!'s Pinwheel die.  The pinwheels on this card were made with the die. This little die makes a 2" pinwheel.  It is available through May of this year for only $4.95.  The advantage of using the die is that there are holes pre-punched in each corner for a brad and the die cuts a notch for each folding, where the scissors only cuts a slit.

Best Dad Ever

Masculine Card made with Stampin'UP!'s Beyond Plaid, Dapper Dad and Best Dad EverCards for Dad? We're still a month away from Father's Day, but not too soon to be thinking about the Best Dad Ever in your life

If you're looking for a good masculine stamp set then I have 2 suggestions:
  • Best Dad Ever
  • Dapper Dad
Best Dad Ever has images of ties, which you can use together in a group or individually. And it has some wonderful sentiments.

Dapper Dad has a watch, a tie and the shoe used on this card.

Neither of these sets made it into the new catalog.  So if you like either Dapper Dad or Best Dad Ever then you have only until the end of this month to get them.

Seriously?! The Whale is going?

Card made with Stampin'UP!'s Happy Whale Die
Oh Whale - its time to say good-bye. I'm so sad that the cute whale die and stamp set: Oh Whale are not included in the new catalog.  These were new products introduced in the Spring Mini Catalog and I've had so much fun playing with them.

If you like this little guy
then now is the time to get him.

Stampin'UP!'s set: Happy Whale Die and Oh Whale Stamp Set

The Happy Whale die is only $7.50 and includes an anchor, a heart, a little fish and water drops.

This is part of a product suite.  This group of products includes both a matching stamp set AND a matching wheel. There is also a set of matching Designer Papers and some cute little whale paper clips.  You can see all the whale product here

Here are two more whale cards I've posted recently.

Nature's Pace - Thistle

The lovely thistle image is from a stamp set called "Nature's Pace". This set has some really lovely realistic images in it and I think my favorite is the thistle.  We have thistles like this growing in our pasture and I always think they're so pretty when they're in bloom.  My husband and the horses don't agree.

Card made with Stampin'UP!'s stamp set: Nature's Pace
Card made with Stampin'UP!'s stamp set: Nature's Pace
Detail images like this one from Nature's Pace are ideal for coloring with markers.  Here's a few tips about INK. The ink in the Stampin'UP! markers and Classic Ink Pads is water soluble ink.  Since the green and pink colors are added to this image with markers, the image itself could NOT be stamped with our regular black ink - it would have just smeared with the marker.  Instead, the image was stamped in StazON ink which is not water soluble.

Nature's Pace is one of the sets retiring this year.  Remember: this is the LAST month you can order from the current catalog

Dapper Dad's Blue Shirt

Here is Dapper Dad's Blue shirt.  Why is he blue?  He's sad because this stamp set is not in the new catalog.

When the Spring Mini Catalog came out I was so excited to see this wonderful masculine stamp set. I've really had fun playing with the watch, the shoe and especially the bowtie!
Stampin'UP! stamp set: Dapper Dad
Card made with Stampin'UP! stamp set: Dapper Dad

Card made with Stampin'UP! stamp set: Dapper DadI did 2 things with the tie to help it stand out.
1.  the image is heat embossed,
Can you see how shiny it is in the photo?
2.  It was attached on dimensionals to raise it up

Want to see a few more cards made with this amazing tie?

and you can order product from them through the end of the month.

The new catalogs are on their way and I know some of you already have yours.  If you don't have one yet then contact me so we can figure out how to get you a copy of the new catalog.  The new catalog has some really fun new product.  I'm excited about the Washi Tape, the moldable clay and I am SO excited about the new rotary cutting blades - 3 of them. A straight cut and a wavy cut and a scallop cut.  They are on my first order from the new catalog.
