Dapper Dad's Tuxedo

Who ever is wearing this tuxedo must be quite the "dapper" guy:  striped dress shirt, bow tie and shiny buttons and a sparkly cummerbund.

OK - how old are you?  Did you know the adjective I just used or did you have to look up the word "dapper"?  Its not a word often used (at least not so much here in southern Wisconsin).  But the reason I used it is because its the name of the stamp set used on his tie:  Dapper Dad.  There are 3 wonderful masculine stamps in the set.

The shirt stripes were embossed with Stampin'UP!'s Stripes Embossing Folder.  Although if you don't have a machine to do the pressure embossing you could leave it plain, or score a few vertical lines.

The cummerbund is scored, and if you look at this picture closely you'll see its sparkly.  That's because I spritzed it with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz

For the neckline I cut in about an inch from each side and folded the piece in to the center. Then I rounded the remaining corner for the shoulder.

The suspenders are just strips of paper - a way to use up scraps.

Now for the buttons.  I'll warn you up front that this is not a quick process.  The buttons were die cut using the Buttons #5 Sizzlet Die. Although if you don't have that die (or don't have a die cut machine) you could just punch circles and pierce 2 holes.  The reason they are shiny - like a real button - is because I coated them with crystal effects.  That takes time to dry.

Of course I could have used real buttons too.  But this way its flatter and easier to mail.

HINT:  If you try making these buttons, don't make my mistake.  I attached them with glue dots and you can see the edge of one of the glue dots through the hole in the button.

Th Dapper Dad stamp set is in the new Spring Mini Catalog.  Do you have this new catalog?
