Baby Gift or Shower Gift Made with the Hamburger Box Die

Here's a super cute baby gift made with the Hamburger Box Die.
I received this little treat box as a Trade Project from Tina Petko

Wouldn't this be cute as a table favor at a Baby Shower?
Its also perfectly sized to give the mom-to-be a cute pair of booties and a gift card.

Baby Gift or Shower Favor made with Stampin'UP!'s Hamburger Box Die

Best of all, the Hamburger Box Die is on Sale this Week!
Its always nice to save money, no matter how much you save,
but you especially love it when you see the higher priced items on sale,
like the Hamburger Box Die.

Tina used images from 2 different stamp sets to complete her project:
Something for Baby - -   and - -  One Tag Fits All
wood  or  clear                              wood  or clear

Baby Gift or Shower Favor made with Stampin'UP!'s Hamburger Box Die

Tina made a window in the top of the box by punching a hole,
she then covered the hole with a piece of clear Window Sheet
stamped with the sentiment.

STAMPING TIP: When stamping on acetate or Window Sheet material
you need to use a quick drying ink like Staz-ON.

Tea Bag Card

Looking for a cute way to give a little something to a friend or co-worker?
Here's a cute teabag card.
Teabag card made with Stampin'UP!'s Tea Party Stamp Set.

It's decorated on the front with images from a stamp set called Tea Party
Available in either wood mount or clear mount.
The Rose Red and Garden Green color combination is so pretty.

Its finished off with a couple of self-stick Rhinestones in the corner
and a cute "belly band" made of Pistachio Pudding 3/8" Ruffle Stretch Trim as a closure.

The Tea Party stamp set has some great images.
You can use it to make invitations or thank-yous
as well as some really cute hello cards.

Stampin'UP!'s Tea Party Stamp Set.

TIP: You may be wondering how I got these different colors, since the image is a single stamp. The answer is to color the stamp itself with markers and then stamp to the paper.  This is a large image so remember to "HUFF" - exhale on the stamp to re-moisten the ink - just before stamping.

To make this card I cut a 4" strip from a piece of 12x12 cardstock.
Score at 4" from each end.
On the last section cut off a triangle from one corner up to the opposite corner by the score line.
For stability I added a green 4"x4" sheet into the pocket with the teabag.

Partial Embossing with the Textured Boutique Machine

Texture embossed get well card made with Stampin'UP!'s Square Lattice embossing folder
Do you love texture embossing as much as I do?  This card would be so different without the texture embossing. Texture takes a project from plain to wow!

This texture pattern was made with Stampin'UP!'s Square Lattice embossing folder.  Don't you think it looks like gauze, or a bandaid?  Perfect for a "get well" card.

But . . . have you ever tried to stamp on textured paper? I love the look of a texture embossed background - but it is challenging to stamp on it. The ink covers the raised areas but doesn't get into the low areas.

You can see the solution on this card
. . . . only emboss part of the paper!

The Big Shot embossing and die cutting machine sold by Stampin'UP!And, its super easy to do partial embossing.  Just leave the paper partway out of the folder when you pass it through the machine.

Stampin'UP! sells 2 machines for texture embossing:
   1.  The Big Shot - which does BOTH embossing and die cutting
   2.  The Texture Boutique - which only does embossing.

How to do Partial embossing with Stampin'UP!'s Texture Boutique embossing machine
You want the Big Shot if you think you'll be doing any die cutting. There are smaller machines on the market, but I'd recommend going with this one because at some point you're going to fall in love with a larger die that won't work in your smaller machine and then you'll be kicking yourself for not choosing the Big Shot to start with.

You want the Texture Boutique Machine if you just want an affordable way to do texture embossing. And I do mean affordable - it does only half what the Big Shot does but it costs a full 2/3 less!  At $29.95 this is definitely affordable!

Its easy to do partial embossing with either machine.  This photo shows how I made this card with the Texture Embossing Machine. You just insert the paper only partway into the folder and then roll it through the machine - voila!

Oh, and an added bonus: if you take your crafting with you when you travel you're really going to love how light weight the Texture Boutique is.

This video shows how easy it is to use the Texture Boutique (item #132657)

Gorgeous Grunge Background Splash

Card made with Stampin'UP! Petite Petals and Pansy Punches, Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set and Delicate Designs Embossing Folder
The Gorgeous Grunge stamp set makes a fun background on this card. Some light pink (Pink Pirouette) and dark pink (Rose Red) overlapped  adds some interest in the open space without distracting from the flowers.

The punched flowers really do grab the attention on this card.  The small punched Petite Petal flower centered on the larger punched flower (made with the Pansy Punch) makes a really pretty combination. Add a bright yellow (Daffodil Yellow) center and you get a great layered look.

TIP: Get double duty from your punches. The leaves on this flower were also punched with the Pansy Punch. Punch in green, then cut it apart and layer behind the flower.

This card has lots going on. The Grunge stamps add some background color - and the bottom of the card has some background texture - created with one of the Delicate Designs Embossing Folders.

A Simple Happy Watercolor with Peaceful Petals

The post title said this was a "simple" "happy" watercolor.

Simple because its just 2 stamps - the flowers and the words - and its just 2 parts on the card base.

Happy because of the bright cheery colors. These colors are Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango with a little Old Olive on the flower stems. All three of these colors are part of the Brights Collection.

The image is watercolored:
  • I use an Aqua Painter when I watercolor. I really like how the bristles stay together while I paint.
  • This image is on Water Color Paper - in my experience the paper really helps with the classic "watercolor look"

TIP: When you watercolor be sure the image is stamped in StazON so it won't bleed when you paint over it.

This flower image is from a stamp set called Peaceful Petals. The set has some really beautiful flower and foliage images as well as 2 very versatile sentiments. Its available in either wood mount or clear mount.

Here's a horizontal version of the same simple card. Which do you like better? Vertical or horizontal?  Leave me a comment and tell me which you prefer.

  *Pacific Point
  *Daffodil Yellow and
  *Real Red

Stampin'UP! stamp set: Four YouDo you like the font on this sentiment? The "hello" is from a stamp set called Four You. This set has 4 versatile sentiments in very stylish fonts.

This set is a nice addition to a sentiment collection
- or -
a great set if you're just starting out.

The flower images and the scallop underscoring the sentiment are both from a Sale-a-bration set called Petal Parade. The scallops are separated from the word by a thin strip of black paper.

Tip for lining up stamps

Here are a couple of STAMPING TIPS:

Second: to get multiple colors on a single stamp
color directly on the stamp with your markers.

Easter Blessings Card with Embossed Tulip Frame

Home made Easter Card made with Stampin'UP!'s Blessed Easter Stamp SetHere is an Easter Card made by a friend. Seasonally it may be a little early for Easter Cards - but I just got this as a trade and its so pretty that I just had to share.

The stamp is called "Blessed Easter" - its one of the new stamps in the Occasions Catalog.

Notice the colors? I was confused at first when I saw the colors on the card - because I knew this was a single stamp. The petals, stem and words are all on one stamp and yet the image is in 2 colors.

TIP: You can get this 2-color look on a single stamp by coloring directly on the stamp with markers.  Looks great doesn't it. The colors on this card are such a pretty spring combination: Wisteria Wonder and Garden Green.

The Framed Tulips embossing folder adds just the right special touch for the edge and the Crochet Trim bow is the perfect finishing touch.

Springtime Hello Embellished with a Sweet Bee and Honeycomb Texture

Texture embossing really dresses up a card. The card on the left is pretty all by itself. But just see how special it looks with cardstock embossed with a Honeycomb pattern.

Card made with images from Stampin'UP!'s Springtime Hello Stamp set Card made with images from Stampin'UP!'s Springtime Hello Stamp set and honeycomb Embossing Folder

These images are from a new stamp set: Springtime Hello. This is just a sneak peek (sorry, I know a few people who want everything with bees, but this is not available until January). But you should have already gotten your Occasions Catalog in the mail, so enjoy a few days of browsing and get your Wish List ready.  This catalog goes live in January.

And if you don't have the Occasions Catalog yet then contact me for a copy

Card made with images from Stampin'UP!'s Springtime Hello Stamp set and honeycomb Embossing FolderAnother thing that makes this card special is the delicate coloring on the flower. The flower and its stems are all one stamp, yet you see multiple colors.

TIP: To get the different colors I used markers directly on the stamp. If you look carefully at the close up you'll see where my coloring was a little off. Using markers on the stamp is an easy way to get a "wow"  look.

Snowflakes with Acrylic Block Print Background

Winter card with the snowflake and sentiment from Stampin'UP!'s Best of Snow CollectionAre you a wood mount stamper or a clear mount stamper?  If you have any clear blocks you can use them to make a really interesting background. Did you know you can ink the block just as if it were a stamp and transfer the ink from the pad to the paper with the block.

TIP: Use your clear blocks like a stamp.

Can you see the light square of ink behind each snowflake on this card? That square was made with Stampin'UP!'s "C" block.  To see other cards I've uploaded using this technique click here: Acrylic Block Background technique.

Winter card with the snowflake and sentiment from Stampin'UP!'s Best of Snow CollectionI love Stampin'UP!'s Rhinestone Jewels. These self-stick rhinestones are such an easy way to add a little sparkle to a project. One for the center of each snowflake on this card, including the snowflake under the sentiment.

Given the massive amounts of snow we've had recently a card with snowflakes seemed the perfect post. This snowflake image and the sentiment are both part of the Best of Snow Collection. Other images in this collection include the cute Hedgehogs and a darling little Snowman.

Notice the punched layer with the sentiment? There's something special about that. It was made with the Bracket Label punch - which there's only 1 size of. Yikes I can hear my high school English teacher telling us not to end a sentence with the word "of". But anyway, the punched piece is in 2 layers! Cool trick, huh? Watch this little video showing how to get 2 different size layers from 1 punch.

2-Step Stamping with Too Kind

Card made with Stampin'UP!'s Too Kind stamp set and Bitty Butterfly Punch2-Step Stamp Sets allow you to create some awesome images.  One of my favorites is a set called Too Kind. We used it in class this month to make this card.

Here's why its called 2-step stamping:
The 2 tones on the flower actually come from 2 different stamps.  The larger, lighter purple image is one stamp and the smaller, darker part of the flower is actually a 2nd stamp.

This card is actually really easy to make!
*We stamped the stems first (because they're long and actually go under the sentiment strip.
*Next we stamped the large, light purple part of the flower, because we wanted it situated right above the stem
*Finally we stamped the darker purple smaller part of the flower.

Stampin'UP!'s Too Kind Stamp SetThis stamp set is nicely "forgiving" in that the placement of the flower heads does not have to be exact. It looks good pretty much where ever you stamp the 2 images.

Do you sometimes get annoying lines around your image because the ink got onto the edge of the stamp.? There ar 2 ways to avoid that.
1. Ink the stamp with markers instead of an ink pad
2. Trim your stamp to remove the edges.

Trim the edges of your stamp to avoid the ink edges on your project.
YES - I know they come die cut and ready to punch out.  But sometimes the edges are a problem anyway.

Stampin'UP!'s Paper Snips have a wonderful sharp point and thin blade that lets me get under just the rubber and not the foam backing.

This has really made a difference in the quality of my stamping.
