Fall is such a great time of year, nature offers such a rich palette of color and texture - and its so much fun to try to capture that color and texture on my card projects.
The texture part is easy when you use an embossing folder. The woodgrain embossing folder is perfect for a card with trees or leaves.
- The watercolor paper itself provides some additional texture
- And the circle with the leaf is raised up on dimensionals.
- The sponging around the edge of the circle also adds some texture to the project.
The color variation in the leaves was achieved by watercoloring them. I punched the circle shape using the 2 1/2" circle punch. Then stamped the oak leaf image from Lovely as a Tree. The image was stamped in Staz-ON ink and watercolored in Pumpkin Pie ink using AquaPainters. The little sentiment is from a stamp set called Petite Pairs.
How about you? What things from nature are inspiring your stamping. I suppose if I lived in Hawaii I'd be doing waves and beaches, but here in Wisconsin its been a gorgeous fall. And I'm hoping for more snow this year than last. Stay tuned to see more nature inspired projects.

By the way, this is a very simple lay-out that is easy to vary. This was one of the cards from the November Stamp-a-Stack, and as always people have choices on their projects. Some folks changed up the location of the focal point as you can see in these photos. It it fun to play around with designs.
If you are local be sure to check my events calendar for your chance to make cards like this.
