Oh Whale is a Happy Whale

Card made with Stampin'UP!'s Happy whale die and Oh Whale Stamp set and Cloud embossing folder.
Here's another card using the cute Happy Whale die and the Oh Whale Stamp set. These two products are designed to work together.  The whale die is actually see-through so you can line up a stamped image perfectly.  You can see what I mean in this post

However . . . This card is one I was doing for a demonstrator event and I confess that I got a bit lazy.  Instead of stamping all the whales I just die cut them.  But they look cute this way, right?

Mass Producing the Whale CardThe dotted scallop ribbon was perfect for the ocean (waves and white caps and all). Perfect for this happy little whale to swim across.

Here's a few more stamping tips

First a paper saving trick:  I punched the blue layer for the sentiment from the background piece that frames the card.

Its a small thing when you are making just one card, but it can really make a difference in how much paper you use when you are mass producing.

Partial embossing with the Cloud embossing folderSecond:  when adhering ribbon to the back of a project, apply the tape to the paper. It sticks better to paper than to ribbon.  Then press the ribbon firmly on the tape.  And the ribbon can be easily peeled off the tape if it needs to be repositioned.

By the way, if you are taping ribbon to the front of a project be sure to apply the tape to the ribbon.  Its easier to line it up on the project.

Third: partial embossing.
For the clouds I embossed only the top part of the paper (right? cuz the clouds are UP in the sky).  That left the bottom part smooth for the sentiment.
Partial embossing with the Cloud embossing folder

Its one of those little tricks that we often forget about, you don't have to stick the whole piece of paper in the embossing folder.

What other interesting designs can you make with your embossing folders by positioning the paper to be only partially embossed?
