Punch Art Candles with a Polymer Clay Rose

Punch Art Candle Card made with Stampin'UP! Punches and Clay Rose
Here is an easy Punch Art Project. Doesn't this just give you a warm feeling seeing those glimmery candles with the greenery at the bottom? Makes me think of special evenings with family.

You can make this design work for any occasion. Its very similar to this candle card from a previous post.
  • The candles are strips of Designer Paper, I used an oval punch to create the curve at the top, but you could just as easily cut it freehand.
  • The leaves were punched with the Bird Builder Punch - its my "go to" punch for any kind of foliage. For anyone wanting to get into punch art this is a "must have".
  • The Rose was made with our Polymer Clay and colored with re-inkers to match the paper base of the card.

Are you impressed by the rose and thinking I'm an amazing clay artist? Think again. To get the rose shape I used our Clay Molds.  (2 molds in the package: buttons and flowers)
Stampin'UP!'s Blossom Builder PunchAbout the candle flame: The flame is punched from Champagne Glimmer Paper using the Blossom Builder Punch. This punch is retired, but as of this writing its available on the Clearance Rack at a very deep discount.

You can see how useful this punch is! Like I said, it is retired, but limited quantities are still available on the Clearance Rack.  Snap up this versatile punch now before they're gone.

Digital Thanksgiving Greetings

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Two photos today from Stampin'UP!'s Digital Software: My Digital Studio

Photo #1: The images
You may recognize them as stamps as a retired Stamp Set called Countryside. The physical stamps may be gone, but the digital images are still available.

The software lets you do lots of things with the images:
  • you can re-size them
  • you can layer one on top another
  • and you can color them

Photo #2: The images colored
Please don't be too critical of my learning projects. I haven't played much with the software so my projects are definitely not professional looking.

Check out some of the samples from people who are far more experienced with the program than I am.
See the digital gallery HERE

I may not be too sophisticated yet, but I can see where this has the potential to be totally fun
and just as addicting as stamping with paper and ink.

You can give get a 30-day FREE Trial to try it out, or just buy the whole program for $19.95.
Its a download so there's no waiting. Instant download and the fun begins.

Floral Frames Framelit Dies are on Sale This Week

Today's post features die cut projects made with the Floral Frames Die. In winter we don't usually think of flowers - Poinsettia's being the exception. But just look at these 2 cards both made with the Floral Frames die. I got these 2 cards as trade cards from one of the women in my demonstrator group, Joyce Hall.

Remember, these are only available while supplies last decide how many kits you want and order today to ensure you get your kit(s). But don't delay - not just because they might run out, but also because you definitely want to leave yourself enough time to make and enjoy your winter holiday decorations.

Watch the 3-1/2 minute video below for instructions on making these ornaments.

Stampin'UP!'s Silicone Craft Sheet
What did you think of the video?  Were you impressed with that surface they're working on? Did you see how the hot glue just peeled right off and it wasn't damaged by the heat. This is Stampin'UP!'s  Silicone Craft Sheet.

If you don't already own a Silicone Craft Sheet then you definitely need to add this inexpensive (only $5.95) item to your order. Its small, just the right size to work on a project. And this craft sheet is semi-transparent so you can see through it to help with placing parts on a project. I love mine.

The Silicone Craft Sheet is great for protecting your surfaces too, especially when you're working with a glue gun or modpodge or polymer clay or when you watercolor or for any messy inking.  Stop back Friday to see a polymer clay project I made using this amazing Silicone Craft Sheet.

Easy Fall Cards in Gorgeous Fall Colors

Fall cards made with Stampin'UP! productThese are all three of the cards we made this month at the Community Center Classes.  They're all pretty simple to make . . . Selfishly I make 'em easy - so I don't have to transport too much "stuff". We strive for the easy "wow".

Here in southern Wisconsin our trees still have a few leaves. Fall is one of my favorite times of the year because of the combinations of rich warm colors.
  • The card on the upper left is a combination of Pear Pizzaz, Pumpkin Pie and Rich Razzelberry
  • The card on the right is a strip of Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie and Pear Pizzazz
  • The bottom card is Cherry Cobbler, leaf edges are sponged with Chocolate Chip

Fall is all about color! Right?
Color Coordination is really one of Stampin'UP!'s "claims to fame"

Stampin'UP! has coordinated color pallettes so you can get a set of products that are ALL COLOR MATCHED! Color coordinated paper, ink, ribbon, buttons . . . That was a HUGE factor for me when I discovered this company. Its so important that the ink and ribbon and paper and any other bling actually match. Do you have the catalog?  Have you had a chance to browse the color collections? They start on page 138.

If you haven't seen the Stampin'UP! catalogs then check out these links. If you want a copy of the current catalogs just give me a quick call and we'll arrange to have one sent to you. 608-220-3450

Fall Card with Stenciled Leaf Grunge

Gorgeous Grunge and Yippee-Skippee! Stamp sets and Leaf Stencil from Autumn Accents Die
As Paul Harvey would say:
"Here's the rest of the story . . . "

Yesterday's post showed a fall card done in neutrals and explained the background stamping and the sentiment. Now let me explain the leaf.

The leaf on this card is a stencil!  Wondering where I got this amazing Maple Leaf stencil? I made it myself using the Autumn Accents Leaf Die and my Big Shot machine.

Fall card made with Autumn Accents Die cut Leaves and Woodgrain Texture embossing.
I got this idea while designing the cards
for the November stamping events.
Are you local: Dane County, WI area?

One of our cards used 2 die cut leaves on a textured background. Of course, when you create the die cut leaves, you also have the hole they came out of. I used the hole for the Maple leaf to sponge the color on yesterday's card. The left over piece of cardstock with the hole was my stencil.

The Big Shot MachineThe Big Shot is such an amazing machine, I use it way more than I ever thought I would. Just look at today's card . . . die cut leaves, die cut acorns and the texture embossing. Don't you think the Woodgrain Embossing Folder is a great way to highlight the leaves?

If you imagine the card with just the leaves and sentiment it would still look good, right?  But once you own the Big Shot you just end up using it for everything!

If you like the projects you see on my blog, you can find all the supplies to make them at my on-line store.

Awesome Thanks! (with a little sparkly grunge)

Fall card made with Stampin'UP! stamp sets: Gorgeous Grunge and Yippee-Skippee!This "awesome" thank-you card is a slightly different style from most of what you see here. The color range is all variations of 1 hue, there are only 2 layers and there's very little bling.

The neutral tones on this card are perfect for fall. All of the background stamping is done in 2 colors of light brown: Stampin'UP!'s  Soft Suede for the leaf and Crumb Cake for the "splotches".  The sentiment was stamped in a darker brown: Early Espresso.

The "splotches" are from a stamp set called Gorgeous Grunge. (Annual Catalog p109) This is definitely my new "go-to" set for backgrounds.

This sentiment is from a set called Yippe- Skippee! (Annual Catalog p37) It has some other pretty "awesome" sayings too. Of course, this card would look great with any other sentiment of your choice.

And bonus! This would be great for either a man or a woman. The little bit of "bling" - the sparkly self-stick rhinestones - dress it up just enough for a woman. The neutral tones add minimal bling and let it also work well for a man.
→ → → Be sure to stop back tomorrow to see how I got the leaf on this card. ← ← ←

Again, check the flyer for specific sale items

I'm glad to see the Core'dinations cardstock on sale. Our regular papers are died all the way through. The Core'dinations paper has color on the surface only so when you cut the paper your see the white core. Hence the name: Core'dinations.

You can create some amazing artwork when you combine embossing and sanding on Core'dination paper.  Here are some previous projects I've posted using the Core'dinations papers.

Card Made with Core'dinations Paper and Stampin'UP! Zoo Review Stamp Set Fall Card Made with Core'dinations Paper

Both of these samples used the Woodgrain Embossing Folder. I ran the brown Core'dinations paper through the Big Shot with the Wood Grain embossing folder to get the raised area. Then, for that distressed look I lightly sanded over the raised woodgrain.  I love how it really adds dimension to the look of the tree trunk.

Fall Card Made with Core'dinations Paper and Stampin'UP! Autumn Accents Leaf Die

This leaf card has a similar distressed look for the background piece behind the leaves.

Sale Ends Dec 2nd.

Pennant Punch BowTie a Quick and Easy Masculine card

Masculine Card Punch Art Bow Ties made with Stampin'UP!'s Pennant PunchLooking for a quick and easy masculine card?  What do you think of this design?

If bowties are right for your guy this is a quick and easy design.  Each bowtie is 2 triangles and a circle.

The circles you'd punch, of course! No one can cut a perfect circle. The triangles are easier to cut by hand. But I LOVE using my Pennant Punch for this card.
  1. The triangles are guaranteed to
    all be the same size
  2. Punching is way easier than cutting.
Stampin'UP! Sweater Weather Designer paperAnd a bonus - its a good way to use up scraps of Designer Papers.

If your craft area looks anything like mine you have enough scraps of designer paper lying around to mass produce for a mail order catalog. Yikes, I should have used up scraps.  But I confess - this is a new paper in the current Holiday Catalog. Its called Sweater Weather and it was just too perfect for both the season and for a fall masculine card. So I just had to use it.

Are you surprised at what the Pennant Punch can do?  Be sure to scroll down through the past couple of posts to see some ideas for using the Pennant Punch on your Holiday Projects.

Pennant Punch Designer Paper Christmas Tree

Christmas Card made with Stampin'UP!'s Pennant Punch and Designer PaperHow's your supply of Designer Paper?  If you're like me you probably have a few scraps laying around, right? Just a few?  Well here's a cute way to use them up making this cute Christmas tree.

And the great thing about this project is that if you are mass producing Christmas cards they don't all have to look exactly the same. So pull out a pile of scraps and start making a bunch of cute cards.

Card Details:
Stampin'UP! pad of Holiday Paper - Season of Style
This is a great way to use up scraps. But what if you just really like these papers and want all your holiday cards to look the same? Stampin'UP! has you covered there. These papers are from a pack called Season of Style. The designs are sold in the regular $10.95 12x12 packs like all our other papers.

But now, especially for card makers, we're carrying pads of 4 designs in a smaller 4-1/2" x 6-1/2" size for only $6.95.  And with 48 double-sided sheets in a pack you can mass produce a lot of Christmas Cards.

This card goes together pretty quickly and using the Pennant Punch lets you make lots of the triangles very quickly.

If you like the ease of mass producing with punched pieces then check out these past posts showing other ways to use Stampin'UP!'s Pennant Punch to make Christmas Cards.
