This Little Flying Piggy

Today's card is something totally fun . . . this little piggy is a flying pig!
. . . bringing a bouquet of birthday balloons.

Birthday Card made with Stampin'UP!'s This Little Piggy Stamp set, Balloon Bouquet Punch and Balloon Celebration Stamp Set

What a great kids card!  Fun to give to a child  . . . and fun for children to make.

Do you craft with children?  If so this is pretty easy for kids to make.  The balloons are punched out and they get to color the pig.  The only challenging part for little hands might be when they have to cut out the pig with a scissors.

One helpful tip, notice the strings for the balloon.  These are stamped (or you could hand draw them). Then the fussy cut pig is glued on top the stamped string image and you'll need to go back and draw the balloon strings over the one pig arm so it looks like the pig is holding all the strings.

When you layer the balloons it really adds dimension to the card. And mixing the colors of balloons and including some made with glimmer paper helps to make each balloon distinct.

Does this give you ideas for children's projects?  The pig stamp set is cute, the balloon punch I consider to be a "must have" in my craft room. Its a basic shape that is so versatile, not just for birthdays but for any celebration. And the punch actually has 2 different size balloons in the same punch.  Well worth the investment. A complete list of products used on this card is at the end of the post.

I hope you've been inspired to play. I'd love your feedback in the comments and I'm happy to answer any questions about this project or any others you have planned.

Halloween Scenes Mason Jars with Candy Corn

Do you decorate for Halloween?  Here are 2 easy ideas for Fall or Halloween table decorations made from empty glass jars. Fill a Mason Jar with Candy Corn and decorate the outside with fall or Halloween imagery.

The jar on the right uses die cut shapes from Halloween Scenes Edgelits Dies. I used the Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen to add a little sparkle.  It was very subtle in real life but picked up some glare in this photograph.

The jar on the left is a large oval for the body and circles for the eyes.  The head is a square folded in half and tipped with the Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper for a beak.  A pair of fringe scissors works great on strips of paper to make the feathery tummy.

These projects were very easy to make and if you  have kids who like to craft its a great way to get them involved in holiday decorating.  The table below shows the product I used.

Stinkn' Cute Foxy Punch

Oh my goodness - the possibilities are endless!  Stampin'UP!'s Foxy Friends stamp set and coordinating Fox Builder punch are perfect for hours of creative play.  These images can do so much more than just a fox.

This cute little skunk card was made by my friend Joyce Hall.  Joyce designed this as one of the Make & Take cards for our last Madison Area Stamping Stars meeting.  Pardon the pun, but he's just "stinkin cute".

Joyce designed this card to showcase the Foxy Friends Stamp set and Fox Builder Punch.  You can buy the stamp set and punch individually, or save 10% when you buy them as a bundle.

Here's a few more ideas for what you can do with the Foxy Friends stamps and Fox Builder Punch. This image was posted on Facebook by a demo in France named Virginail Lol‎.

Ideas for using the StampinUp Fox Builder Punch and Foxy Friends Stamp Set

Do you stamp with kids?  Foxy Friends and Punch would be perfect for lessons about animals and for critical thinking in terms of which part goes where.  OK, sorry, that was the teacher in me showing through.  Scratch the whole teaching thing. This stamp and punch set would be perfect just for having fun - because our hobby is fun and we want to pass the love of paper crafting on to the next generation. A few days ago I posted info on another great kids set called Balloon Builders. You can see the balloon card here.

These are the products Joyce used on her card: Note: the tree stamp is included in the Foxy Friends set. Its an easy shape to cut with a scissors, but to make life easy there is a coordinating set of framelits that you could use with your Big Shot or other die-cutting machine.  For the background Joyce used paper that kind of looks like snow, but any background would look cute with this little skunk.

Pansy Punch Art Puppy Dog

Hello Handsome! Here's the perfect card to welcome a new puppy.

Are you a fan of punch art?  This card uses only 2 punches - the Pansy Punch for the head, body and tail and the Owl Builder Punch for the small hearts used on the nose and tongue.

Did you notice there's 2 versions of this puppy? Here's the "recipe card" showing how to make them.

Using punches is a quick, way to make crisp paper images. And a fun thing to do if you stamp with children. For some reason kids love using punches.

Punch art is a fun way to get extra use from a tool you already have.  You've invested in the punches, right, so you might as well get some additional fun using them.  And speaking of getting extra use from a punch, check out this idea for making Halloween bats using a butterfly punch!  Or this super easy Hello Kitty Card. Click on any of the images to take you to the post about that card.

Here's one more view of the Pansy Punch Art Puppy dog
and a list of the products I used to make them.

Gift Bag

What's your presentation when you give a gift?  do you wrap it in paper? or use a gift bag?  The reason I like gift bags is because they're re-usable. Today I'm sharing this gorgeous gift bag I got from my friend Deb Geier.

Gift Bag made with Stampin'UP!'s Affectionately Yours Designer Paper, a Doily, and Triple Banner Punch

You can get plain colored bags in just about any store that sells gift wrapping.  Deb stamped on the bottom edge and then decorated the top with a cute Designer Paper banner backed by a doily and held on with a clip.

Check out this close up of the Designer Paper.  See the shine? This paper is called Affectionately Yours and it has little bits of copper foil built right into the design. Its so pretty and really dresses up the bag.
