Snowman Builder Punch is as much fun as paper dolls

Remember Paper Dolls?  When I was a girl my mom subscribed to McCalls Magazine. Each issue had a cardstock tear out of their signature character, Betsy McCall and several punch out dresses.  If you're too young to know what I'm talking about you can check out the picture below, or just google "Betsy McCall Paper Dolls"

I remember endless hours of fun playing with paper, clearly my love of paper crafts had an early beginning. Its more than just playing with pretty paper . . . its the stories you can tell. This little guy's raised arms reinforce the fact that he is very happy.

What could make him so happy?  Maybe the beautiful shimmery blue ribbon that matches the cardstock color. Or possibly the gorgeous shiny snowflakes in the designer paper.  Clearly he's not alone in loving that designer paper because its sold out for the season. I'll put links to the rest of the product used on this card at the end of the post.

Stampin'Up!'s Snowman Builder punch is nearly as much fun as paper dolls. And there's a coordinating stamp set. My grandchildren love playing with this punch. Its amazing the stories you can make up just by changing the angle of the arms and the tilt of the hat. And of course there are 2 other snowmen in the stamp set . . . its good creative fun!

Whether you live in a cold climate or not, I think every stamper should have at least 1 good versatile snowman stamp set and its a bonus that there is a coordinating punch.  If you don't already have a snowman stamp set I encourage you to give strong consideration to this bundle.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm happy to answer your questions about this or any other projects. You'll find specific product links for this project below, or just take some time to browse the Stampin'UP! store.

Embossed Snow Flurries

Snow flurries are in the forecast - at least here in Wisconsin.  So . . . with thoughts of the white stuff in my head, today I offer you this. A little Flurry of Wishes for a happy day.

Snowflake card made with Stampin'UP!'s Flurry of Wishes Stamp Set

Simple and Sparkly: On this card I wanted something that reflected the simple clean but sparkly look of a fresh winter snowfall. I did three things to get that look.
1.  I keep the colors to a minimum: Soft Sky, White, black (sentiment) and Silver
2.  The sparkle comes from both the rhinestones and the silver glimmer paper
3.  And extra shine comes from embossing the snowflakes

Heat embossing adds a subtle but impressive accent to a project.  Here I stamped the snowflakes in white craft ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  Its a great effect.

Do you have a snowflake stamp set?  There are some shapes that are just basic that I think should be in everyone's craft shelf. And in my opinion, I think everyone should have a basic snowflake set, even if you live in the desert or the tropics, a snowflake is just a basic shape.

Flurry of Wishes is available at least through May of 2016. You'll find it on page 48 of the Occasions catalog and if you still have the 2015 Holiday catalog its on page 25. Do you like these snowflakes? The super cool thing about this particular snowflake stamp set is that it has a matching punch.  And the super cool thing about Stampin'UP! is that they bundle products like this and let you save 15% when you buy them together. Cool, right?  (bad pun there, get it?  snow and cool, sorry . . . maybe my brain is a little frostbitten)

How to Evenly Space Stamped Letters

This winter card uses a Snowman as the "O" in the word Frosty. And today I have a tip to share on how to place the letters evenly when you stamp something like this - a word using individual letter stamps.

Frosty the Snowman Card made with Stampin'UP! Snow Place and Layered Letters Stamp Sets

This series of photos shows the steps
1. place the letters and the die cut first
2. THEN put the block on the letters so they're all mounted together
3. Leave the die cut image in place for reference while you ink and stamp the letters
