Easy Gift Bag for an Office Treat or Table Favor

With Christmas just around the corner, this post is all about Holiday gift packaging.

If you're like me you may have a small stash of pretty papers tucked away somewhere.
Why not use them to make cute little candy gift bags?

This sweet little bag is super easy to make from a 6" x 4.5" piece of paper.

The bag's small size is perfect for leaving a little gift on a co-worker's desk.
Hint: it easily fits 3 nuggets.

Or use it as a table favor by each place on your holiday table.

This bag is super easy to make (click the image to see it larger, or right click to download)

• Cut a sheet of paper to a 6" x 4-1/2" size
• Score long ways at 1-1/4" from each long side
• Score side-ways at 1/2",  2-3/8", 3-5/8",  and 5-1/2" 
• Cut each of the sideways score marks to meet the long score line
  yellow on the image to the right
• If you want a ribbon handle (like on  my sample) punch holes before folding
• Fold and glue according to the images below

Beautiful Winter Place Card for Your Holiday Table

Our family always uses placecards for big family meals.  For us, assigning seats is a good way to ensure that children are taken care of and that adults mix it up a little. You're put out of your comfort zone and the safety of people you see every day and get to know other family that you don't get to see as often. We like it, its a great way to facilitate getting to know your relatives a little better.

These were our place cards this year.

  I love how simple this was to make

The snowdrift swirls were easy: die cut from white glimmer paper and glue on The tree was so fun! The die actually makes all the little lifted branches - I used shimmer paper for some added subtle glitz although its a bit hard to see in this picture  For shine on the branches: I added a little dab of clear glue using the Fine Tip Glue Pen  Red rhinestone ornaments add just the right amount of color.

Do you make placecards?

If you're looking for place card ideas this was actually pretty easy to mass produce . . . this year I made 36!  If you're going to try this just be sure to allow enough drying time for the glue on the branches.

Santa's Sleigh Centerpiece with Chalk Marker Snowflakes

Here is an idea for a centerpiece for your Christmas table. I was surprised how easy it was to turn the 2-dimensional die cuts into a 3-dimensional project.  The idea for this project came when I discovered that Stampin'UP!'s chalk marker works on glass and its permanent!  If you haven't played with Chalk Markers you really need to.

I love this ornate Santa's Sleigh and reindeer dies, the dies look great on cards and scrapbook pages. Plus there's a matching stamp set! and you can save 10% when you buy them together as a bundle.

Today's challenge - going from 2D to 3D.  Once I figured out how to make the sleigh and reindeer stand up the project actually went together rather quickly, it just looks like it took a lot of time.  And it gets a much appreciated "wow" from friends who see it.

About the Base:

• Inverted wine glass set on a circle of black paper (to help show-off the snowflakes)
  The flat bottom of the glass is the surface for the sleigh
• Hand drawn snowflakes made with Stampin'UP!'s Chalk Marker.  Its permanent and doesn't wash off!

The Sleigh:

• I used a large piece of White Glimmer Paper as the "snowy" base
• To support the deer and the sleigh so they'd stand up, I used long 1" wide strips of paper, scored and folded to make an open rectangle. I found it needed a really strong adhesive to stay together, Stampin'UP!'s Fast Fuse worked well.
• The gold cord trim was held in place with glue dots and the little red bows hid the glue dots from view.

Halloween Scenes Mason Jars with Candy Corn

Do you decorate for Halloween?  Here are 2 easy ideas for Fall or Halloween table decorations made from empty glass jars. Fill a Mason Jar with Candy Corn and decorate the outside with fall or Halloween imagery.

The jar on the right uses die cut shapes from Halloween Scenes Edgelits Dies. I used the Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen to add a little sparkle.  It was very subtle in real life but picked up some glare in this photograph.

The jar on the left is a large oval for the body and circles for the eyes.  The head is a square folded in half and tipped with the Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper for a beak.  A pair of fringe scissors works great on strips of paper to make the feathery tummy.

These projects were very easy to make and if you  have kids who like to craft its a great way to get them involved in holiday decorating.  The table below shows the product I used.
