Flourish Thinlits Glimmer Spray

This card was fun and easy to make  The sparkle of the glimmer paper, combined with the beautiful lines of the Flourish Thinlits, and the soft colors create an elegant feminine feel to this card..

Using alcohol markers you can easily color the rhinestones, which is great. There's no need to buy tons of different color rhinestones when you can color them yourself.  

Stampin'UP!'s alcohol markers are called Stampin'Blends, and they come in sets of 2 for each color, one light and one dark. The dark Rich Razzleberry was used on this card.  Its a beautiful compliment to the Soft Sea Foam color of the card base.

The sentiment and the floral stamp are both from a new set called Meant to Be which will be available in January from the Occasions 2019 catalog.  Catalogs are available on-line. That sweet little floral spray looks good on an envelope too! No naked envelopes, right!

While this is one of those cards that's pretty easy to figure out just by looking at it, there are some tips and tricks to pass along for working with detail dies, especially when cut from glimmer paper.  If you've ever had trouble gluing detail die cuts, watch how I do it in this video. Glimmer Paper Challenge Project

This card was part of a challenge project for my demo group.  We needed to create samples using Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper.  Now, glimmer paper is beautifully sparkly all by itself, but I added a little extra shine to mine by covering it with a piece of Window Sheet (acetate). Then of course, that presents the challenge of how to adhere it since the window sheet is clear. So here's my final project.

Here's another view to showoff the extra shine, the acetate contributes so much to this card.  

I really like how it turned out . . .  the smooth feel with the sparkle underneath. 

Its a challenge to glue anything to the sparkly side of glimmer paper.  The uneven surface with all the little dips between bits of glitter does not make for a strong surface to surface bond.  So here's a quick summary of my experience with adhesives and glimmer paper.

• I love my SNAIL adhesive and I use it almost exclusively on my cards. Its quick and easy and makes a very satisfactory paper to paper bond . . . . but, in my experience double sided tape does NOT work on the sparkly side of glimmer paper.
• The liquid tombo glue is a wonderfully strong adhesive for most paper projects, I use it a lot . . . . but even this does not hold well for me on glimmer paper. I think because the surface of the glitter is smooth so there's no fibers for the glue to sink into.
• By far my best results come with using Glue Dots. 

Any adhesive presents a challenge when working with a transparent material like the Window Sheets. My solution was to add the stars to the front so I could hide the glue dots behind them. 

And the bonus is I really loved the color combination.  Black with Blushing Bride on white looks really elegant, especially with the sparkle from the glimmer paper.

3D, 3 Ways to Mount a Punched Embellishment, and 3 Days Left on this Sale

You can add a 3D effect to your projects with some creative mounting of your punched pieces. 

With tape in hand you might just mount the butterflies flat using the tape. And that would look just fine.

Or consider using a Glue Dot or a small piece of Dimensional Foam to raise the butterfly up a bit and then bend up the wings.  Now you have a butterfly that looks like its flying.
