Christmas Greeting Thinlet over Embossed and sponged Snowflakes

The vellum on this card gives a beautiful soft look to the snowflakes. I'm proud to say this is one of the runner-up cards from our contest last weekend.

Card made with Stampin'UP!'s Holly Jolly Greetings Stamp set and Christmas Greetings Thinlit Dies

To get the soft look of this card I embossed the snowflakes in white on vellum cardstock and then sponged the blues  (Soft Sky and Bermuda Bay) on the back. Its on a card base of Soft Sky, but I found that to make it really 'pop' it needed to be on a layer of white.

Are you loving that big snowflake? Its from a set called Holly Jolly Greetings.  With 17 different words you have tons of options for phrasing.  And if that's not enough you can combine the stamped words with a die cut word.  The "peace" on this card was cut with the Christmas Greetings Thinlits.  And of course, Stampin'UP! lets you save 15% when you bundle select product.  Check it out on page 34 of the 2015 Holiday Catalog, or enter the key word Holly Jolly in the search tab of my on-line store.

This card has a very soft, pretty look and the white snowflakes really stand out with the blue sponged behind them, but I think the thing that made this card a winner was all the sparkle. The sentiment is die cut from Silver Glimmer Paper. And the rhinestones and silver cord add just that extra special touch.

Card contest winnersWe had several categories in our contest: the last 2 days showed the first place winner and one of the runner-up cards. This post  showcases another of the runner-up cards, tomorrow you'll see the last 2 runner up cards and later in the week I'll show the winning projects in the other categories. Of course EVERYTHING is made with Stampin'UP! product.

If you see anything you like I'm happy to help you get the product or just to consult and explain further how the project was made.  Its all about having fun with our hobby.

Winter Card with a PunchArt Snowman

Its been very, very cold and windy here recently, and so interesting watching out the window to see all the little white tornadoes swirling around the pasture.  Too cold to go out and build a real snowman, so I'll share a punch art snowman instead.

Here's a few details on this project:

This card was one of our December projects.  That's when I was looking forward to some fun time in the snow.  Mid-February and I've had enough of the cold for awhile.  How about you?  Are you ready for some indoor winter fun?  Join me for some stamping -  Click HERE to see my events schedule.

Punch Art Snowman Makes a Cute Winter Card

Looking for ideas for a cute winter card? Here's an easy Punch Art Snowman.
Punch Art Snowman winter card with using Northern Flurry Embossing Folder for a textured snowflake background
This card was made by my friend and fellow demonstrator Sue Adams
to create the textured snowflakes in the background.

Punch Art Hat for the snowman
Sue punched his cute curvy top hat using the end of the Decorative Label punch - don't you just love the scallop corners?

The perfectly curved brim of the hat is the Large Oval punch. See how the 3 pieces are layered? Punch Art is such a quick easy way to make a really cute focal point on a card.

For the perfect winter decoration use a Snowflake Sequin from the Frosted Sequins pack.

Sue used Washi Tape for the Scarf . . . now that's just brilliant. There are lots of colors and patterns to choose from and Washi Tape is so easy, just tear it off and stick it on your project.

Versatile Washi Tape Background on a Winter Card

Here is another card featuring a snowflake.
This is a beautiful card suitable for any winter occasion.
What I want to point out on this card is the background - its Washi Tape!

Winter card with Stampn'UP!'s Washi Tape

Washi Tape is a quick easy way to add a splash of color to a project.
See what it does for this card that I got from my friend Rachel Durtschi.

Winter card with Stampn'UP!'s Washi Tape

Using Washi Tape for the background has lots of advantages.
  • CONVIENENCE: Its very quick and easy, just tear it off the roll and stick it on the project
  • VERSATILITY: Notice how versatile this design is, it looks good either vertical or horizontal
  • COLORS: and it comes in a huge variety of colors.
Stampn'UP!'s Washi Tape collection fall 2014
If you're like me you're picky about making sure the colors match.  That's why I buy all my colored product (paper, ink, markers, ribbon buttons . . . ) from one company. That way I can ensure that the various parts of my project all work together.  No worries here.  Stampin'UP! has a variety of Washi Tapes sold in coordinating packs.

The coordinating packages of the Washi Tape is so helpful. I don't have to guess which ones work together like what Rachel used on her project.  FYI: the Washi Tape used on this card was the All Is Calm package. item #135844.  You get 5 rolls for just $7.95.

Are you looking for an idea for a Christmas card that's easy to mass produce? This definitely fills the need. A Washi Tape background is quick and easy to create as well as easy to color coordinate.

You can order Washi Tape
and all of your Stampin'UP! products from my on-line store

Ornamental Pine Blendabilities Background

This gorgeous winter card was made by Jen Endres. Jen used the Ornamental Pine stamp set and colored the background with Blendabilities markers. Jen put a Christmas greeting on her card, but this would be a pretty winter card with any greeting of your choice.

Jen 's coloring on the background is beautiful. She used the Coastal Cabana Blendabilities for a really pretty winter effect.

I love how the color gradations look like swirling wind. Makes me think about hitting the cross country ski trails.

And for the white "snowflakes" she used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.

Christmas Card made with Stampin'UP!'s Ornamental Pine Stamp SetWe already get a sense of depth on the project with the snowflakes and the gradation in blue colors.

And for added dimension Jen "fussy cut" the pine cone and popped it up using Dimensionals.

The "snow" on the pine cone was added with Stampin'UP!'s White Chalk Marker. The Chalk Marker is one of my favorite ways to embellish.  The ink flows nicely and dries instantly. Its a quick easy way to add an accent.

FYI: we're down to the final 2 days of Stampin'UP!'s Holiday Extravaganza.  There's a couple of big Door Buster items on sale today. Note: the Blendabilities Bundles are already sold out!
