Classic and Simple Punched Daisy Card

Sometimes you just want quick and easy but you don't want it to look too simple. That's where some punches and DSP (Designer Series Paper) can help.

Simple card layout featuring Stampin'UP!'s Daisy Punch and Bitty Blooms Punch Pack

This card is very easy to construct - 2 strips of paper, 2 punched flowers and a sentiment. The high contrast of the unstamped flower with its glimmer paper center all layered on the black strip makes this card very eye-catching.

The large pink Daisy is a punch that does have a matching stamp set. However I chose not to use the stamp for this project.  The glimmer paper center is from a small punch that is part of a trio of punches called The Bitty Bloom Punch Pack. The small punches in that set were actually designed to coordinate with a different stamp set.  The advantage of shopping with a single company is that you tend to find more product coordination.

Stampin'UP! makes it easy to create projects like this by ensuring all their products coordinate. The daisy shape is consistent and the size of the small flower fits perfectly in the center of the larger daisy.

"Lets Celebrate" is a very generic sentiment that fits lots of occasions. This stamp is also a common size, so any greeting stamp you have would fit into this space. This is a great design lay-out for any occasion where you need to make a quick card - and a reason to keep a stash of small pieces of Designer Paper.

A quick comment on availability of product.  The month of May is catalog transition season for Stampin'UP! The large Daisy Punch will be carrying over to the new catalog but the Bitty Blooms Punch Pack will not.  Click HERE to browse all the retiring product, and feel free to email me with questions about any of it. I'm also happy to send you a copy of the new catalog when it comes out, just email me to let me know you want one.

Daisy Delight with DSP

So after posting Deb's beautiful and simple card yesterday I started thinking about using DSP to dress up simple cards.  Both of the cards below feature the Daisy Punch, Leaf Punch and Daisy Delight Stamp set.

This first one is just a square of DSP (Designer Series Paper) backed with a piece of coordinating cardstock and embellished with an unstamped daisy punched from cardstock.

Card made with Stampin'UP!'s Daisy Punch

The 2nd card steps up the flower a bit. There's a stamp set that matches the daisy punch so I stamped before punching. You'll also notice that there's 2 daisy flowers layered to give a fuller look to the flower.

Using punches helps make a card quick and easy.  I consider the leaf punch and daisy punch to be staples in my craft room. And Stampin'UP! has lots of choices for designer papers.

Spend a little time browsing the product
.  I think you'll find yourself becoming INKspired.

Are you ordering on-line this month? please use the Hostess Code listed in the margin to the left. When you use the code I'm able to return part of your investment  as a part of my Rewards Program.

I'm happy to answer any questions about Deb's beautiful card or any other stamping questions. Its my job to help you get the most out of your hobby.   Thank-you for visiting and have an INKcredible day.

Versatile Versamark with Daisy Delight

The project for today was made to showcase the versatility of Versamark.  In an recent post I mentioned the things I thought should be basic to everyone's stamping supplies and the Versamark ink pad is definitely on the list.

Versamark Ink used 2 ways on this card made using Stampin'UP!'s Daisy Punch and Daisy Delight Stamp Set

The images on this card are from a set called Daisy Delight. If you've been reading past posts you saw another card recently posted using this set for a color combo blog hop. You can see that card here.

The colors on this card are much softer and elegant: pink and green with gold highlights.  There's even a gold tint in the Faceted Jewel in the center of the flower. By the way if you get these Gems you're going to love the fact that they're self-adhesive.

The green strip down the side is the part that shows the versatility of the Versamark Ink.

Versamark Ink Pad sold by Stampin'UP!Versamark is a gooey thick ink that has 2 main uses for card-making.  First, its gooey nature makes it a perfect ink to stamp an image that you want to heat emboss.  Sprinkle the powder over the Versamark image and it sticks well enough to hold it in place under the heat tool. The gold leaves on this card were heat embossed.

Second: the ink in the Versamark pad also reacts with paper to leave behind a watermark.  The darker leaves on this strip were stamped in versamark and left to dry.

The Versamark ink pad is definitely something every paper crafter should own. Links to purchase it and all the product used on this card are at the end of the post.

I hope you've been inspired. Leave a comment about your experiences with Versamark.

February Color Challenge

I participate in a monthly color challenge.

I think its good to sometimes stretch yourself  with your art . . . and starting a project with colors rather than the image is definitely a stretch.

Its easy to start with imagery and pick the right colors.  Its more challenging to reverse the process and start with colors and then try choose the imagery.

The February trio of colors is: Soft Sea Foam,
Mossy Meadow and Poppy Parade.

Two greens and a red?

My first thought was Christmas! But of course February is the wrong month for that holiday.  Then, because its winter here in Wisconsin, I thought about evergreens and cardinals. But I felt the contrast between the two greens was too big a difference to use both greens as trees. In the end I settled on flowers.

I like the contrast of the colors, but felt kind of like I was cheating, like there wasn't enough of the 2 greens.  So I stepped it up a bit with a 2nd card. The flower on both cards was stamped on the Poppy Parade paper and punched out with the Daisy Punch.

The difference on this 2nd card is that I stamped the leaves on the Mossy Meadow and "fussy cut" them with a scissors.  I then glued them over the leaves on stamped stem.  I really like the addition of the extra splash of dark green contrasted with the brightness of the flower.

I'm not sure how well you can see the sparkle on the petals. I went around the edges of each petal and down the center with the Wink of Stella pen.  It really adds a finished look to the flower.

And then because you can never have too much sparkle (right?), I also traced over the letters in the sentiment with the Wink of Stella pen.  Its subtle, but very effective.

Thanks for hopping by.  When you have time, you may enjoy browsing my blog for more ideas. Be sure to check out all the great projects in our February Color Challenge Blog Hop. Click this button to see Astrid's creation.
