How to Make the Punch Art Bunny

This was yesterday's card and the post talked about the lettering.
For today I thought you might like to know how to make the cute little bunny.

Easter Card with a Punch Art Bunny Rabbit

To make the bunny you'll need 4 punches: For the head and body I used 2 circle punches (I used a 1" circle punch and a 1-3/8" circle punch). For the tail a cute tiny little scallop circle - I used the one from the Boho Blossom punch. And for the ears I used 2 petals off of the Fun Flower Punch.

Now the question is, which one looks better?  the White rabbit or the gray one?

Happy Easter with Word and Letter Dies

It might be a little early for Easter, but I was playing with my word and letter thinlets and inspiration struck for this card. I really like this combination of the script writing and the block letters.

Easter Card made with Stampin'UP! Little Letters and Hello You Thinlet Dies

All of the lettering was cut with dies:  "Happy" was made using the Hello You Thinlet Dies, this is a set of 4 word thinlet dies that also includes "thanks", "you" and "hello". The block letters for the word Easter were made with the Little Letters Thinlet Dies

This card makes me smile and think of spring. Part of that "hoppy" feeling is the placement of the letters and part of it is the fresh color combination. The base is Elegant Eggplant which is a very dark purple. But the rest of the lettering is pastel colors: Wisteria Wonder, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Pink Pirouette, Daffodil Delight (can't wait for the Daffodils in my yard and real spring) and Soft Sky. If you're like me a little spring in your heart can put a little spring in your step and make you feel downright hip hop happy.

As always, Stampin'UP! carries all the product used to make this project.

Somethings a Little "Fishy" With This Card!

We have a few "fishy" things going on in our house today.  My husband is going off ice fishing and I'm posting this fish card. If you're not from a northern climate you may wonder why people would fish for ice. The answer is they don't. They drill a hole in the ice and fish through the ice. Yes, you're right - brrr! cold! To each their own I say.  I don't mess with his fishing stuff and he stays out of my stamp room, so its all good.

This was another card I did with the kids at the Art Festival last weekend.  The kids had fun stamping this underwater scene.  We colored the fish and seahorses with markers and sponged on the brown (Crumb Cake) sand and the blue (Lost Lagoon) water.

The images are from a set called By the Tide.  That's one of the great things about buying stamps in sets.  The images all match in size and style and you can use them to create scenes like this one.

Look carefully at the eyes - those are Stampin'UP!'s self-stick Pearls colored with a tiny dot of black Sharpie.  Doesn't it look just like a real fish eye?

The "Best Wishes" sentiment is from a set called Petite Pairs.  But some of the kids decided to change it just a little for this card.  Cute, eh?

Punch Art Lion with the Blossom Punch

I'm not "lion" when I say I had a super fun day on Saturday stamping with some of the kids from our local Elementary School.  The parent group sponsors an Art Festival with various different arts and crafts sessions for the kids to try out. I was the stamp artist.  If you've ever worked with kids groups you know what I mean about having fun. These kids were so enthusiastic and loved the projects.

Here's one of the projects - a Punch Art Lion card

Punch Art Lion card

This is a list of the punches we used:
* the mane . . .  Blossom Punch
* the legs . . . .  Modern Label Punch
* the face . . . .  1-1/4" Circle Punch
* cheeks . . . . .  3/4" circle punch
* nose  . . . . . . made with the small heart that's part of the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack

The sentiment is from a set called Just Sayin', which we stamped on scrap paper and cut out by hand. The kids had a lot of fun making this punch art lion.

The Kids Art Festival is all about having fun being creative.  Punch art projects are a great way to be creative because you take a piece that was intended for one purpose and find a new and exciting way to use the shape.  The Blossom shape makes a great lion's mane . . . of course it makes a great flower too.

Blossom Punch Rolo Treat

We also used the Blossom Punch to make these little candy treats for the teacher whose room we were using.  I used to be a classroom teacher and I know the level of trust involved when you allow a stranger to use your room. I had fun, the kids had fun and I wanted the teacher to know we appreciated the use of her room.

The Rolo treat flower was very easy to make. We punched 1 pink (Melon Mambo) flower and one green (Old Olive) flower and glued them together. Then we glued a Rolo to the center and attached a Thank-you Tag.
