Long Cellophane Bag Gift Treat with a Punch Art Reindeer Bag Topper

Reindeer Punch Art Bag Topper with Stampin'UP! punches
This was my Free Gift to the demonstrators who participated in my Punch Art Trade. I always try to do a little extra for the demos who participate in my mail-in trade because they have the added expense of the postage. Since the theme this time was Punch Art I made this Reindeer Punch Art Bag Topper.

What is a Punch Art Trade? Click here if you missed Saturday's post with the Punch Art Dog. One of the advantages of being a demonstrator is that we trade our creations with each other. A group of us got together and made cards with the "recipe" for the punch art. There are lots of other advantages of being a demonstrator. Contact me for more information or  click here.
Reindeer Punch Art Bag Topper with Stampin'UP! punches and Long Cellophane Bags
The Head is made with the Pennant Punch (catalog p. 213). I punched the smaller triangle out of Crumb Cake and the larger (scalloped) triangle out of Chocolate Chip.

The antlers and ears are made with the 2-Step Bird Punch (catalog p.213). Isn't it fun to use punches in a different way than what they were intended?  The Nose is a 1/4" circle punched in red and the eyes are 1/8" circles punched in black.

The background for the head is a white oval cut with the Extra Large Oval Punch (catalog p.212) and set on a Lucky Limeade circle cut with the 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch.

This project is called a Bag Topper. Just a little something to top off a bag of treats. What I used here is the new Long Cellophane Bags found in the mini catalog on page 11. At only $2.50 for a package of 50 you'll definitely want to add at least one package of these to your next order.

These bags make great gifts for teachers, neighbors and coworkers. Think what your neighbors and coworkers will say when you give them one of these treats. Check this photo of a Punch Art Flower used as a Bag Topper. There are tons of ways to decorate them - let your imagination go wild!

There are also lots of things you can fill these bags with! Anything the right length and diameter. Try pencils, or twizzlers or a skein of embroidery floss.

Supplies used on this project:
#122361 . . . Pennant Punch
#117191 . . . 2-Step Bird Punch
#119859 . . . Extra Large Oval Punch
#118874 . . . 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch
#124134 . . . Long Cellophane Bags

Colors used:
Chocolate Chip
Crumb Cake
Black
Red
Lucky Limeade

Punch Art Dog and Bone

Punch art Dog and Bone
Cards don't always have to be stamped. Check out this punch art dog and bone that I made for a trade with my demo group.

How do you like his gift?  With Christmas only a month away and everyone getting into the gift giving mode, I thought it would look so cute to have a little dog giving a gift. He's peeking over the fence with his "for you" note stamped with a paw print (from the stamp set: D is for Dog). But thats all that was stamped! The rest is made from punches.

Can you tell which punches I used?  The Soft Suede part of his nose is the Ornament Punch with the tab cut off. The black part of his nose is one of the small petals from the Blossom Builder Punch. His paws and ears are also made with the blossom builder punch.

I used the Square Lattice embossing folder on the bone. The reason for embossing the bone is 2-fold. Partly to give it texture, but secondly to hide the edges where I glued the parts together. The bone is actually the Word Window punch with 2 punched hearts one on each end!

Its a little hard to tell in the photo, but I also used the Simply Scored tool to score lines on the red cardstock so it would look like a fence.

Isn't it fun to use punches beyond the use for which they were intended?  Have you made out your Christmas Wish List yet?  Add the Blossom Builder Punch and the Ornament punch to your list and you'll be able to make punch art like this one.  Or better yet, order yours today by clicking HERE
Supplies used on this project
#122334 - Simply Scored = vertical lines on the fence
#119976 - Square Lattice Embossing Folder = texture on the bone
NOTE: You need the Big Shot or equivalent Die Cut/Embossing Machine
   to use the embossing folders
#121808 - Blossom Builder Punch
ears &paws & the black part of the nose
#119847 - Ornament Punch = the brown part of his nose
#119881 - Heart to Heart Punch = the ends of the bone
#119857 - Word Window Punch = the long part of the bone
#120906 - 2-1/2" Circle Punch  = the head
#119869 - 1/2" Circle Punch = the patch on the left eye
#121807 - Cupcake Builder Punch for the 1/4" black circles of his eye
#115784 - stamp set: D is for Dog

Stampin'UP! is one of the Blessings in My Life

On Thanksgiving Day we stop to count our blessings. Many of us will be gathered with good friends and family and enjoying good food and good company.  And as we gather we'll reflect on our lives and count the many blessings we have. What are you thankful for?

Certainly at the top of my list is good health, my own and the health of my husband and children. Many others are not so fortunate. I pray for my nephew and the husbands of 2 friends who are all battling cancer.

I'm thankful for my personal security. I'm grateful that I have a regular income and a secure home. Security is an important blessing, financial security, national security, security from violence. . .

I firmly believe that blessings can be looked at in several ways. The cup may be half full to some and half empty to others. Our positive attitude influences our success and our happiness.

I also believe that our actions can help to create the blessings in our lives. Having said that I'll add that I count Stampin'UP! to be one of the blessings in my life. My association with this company has allowed me to make friends I'd never have met otherwise, to develop my stamping skills to a level I'd never have achieved alone and to start a growing business that more than pays for my hobby.

My upline Suzanne Askey is a blessing in my life. I will always be grateful that she offered me the opportunity to join this company. And therefore I am offering you the same opportunity. Join me and let me show you how to have stamping events with your friends that will pay for your hobby. Let me help you build a business that generates income for you.
You make your own blessings
you make your own successes.
I support people who join me with access to an exclusive website full of business information and stamping know-how. It makes no difference whether you are local or long distance, the web lets us stay connected.

Check HERE for more information. Contact me (StampLadyKatie@aol.com or call 608-220-3450) to discuss how Stampin'UP! could be a blessing in your life too. Or JOIN NOW by clicking here.

Plastic checkbook cover decorated for Fall using Stampin'UP!'s Leaf Die and Frostwoods Lodge PaperUse your stamping supplies for more than just cards and scrapbooks. Here is a fall themed checkbook cover. The commercially available plastic jackets fit standard checkbooks, notepads or datebooks.

The plastic checkbook sleeves are so easy to decorate. The designer paper used here is from the Frostwoods Lodge paper pack - I love the wood grain look of this paper, it was perfect as the backdrop for the fall leaves.

The leaves were cut with the Big Shot  using the Leaves die (#113459. You may recognize this leaf shape because I used it on the place cards for my daughter's wedding in September. You can see the place cards here.

Leaf Stamp Sets for Fall - Part 3

Stampin'UP! has 3 Leaf Stamp Sets to choose from and they are all Drop dead GORGEOUS!

Today's post features: Autumn Splendor This set is a little more stylized than the other two (see the first and second posts in this series). The lines on these images are not intended to represent the actual venation of the leaves, instead they are just the "fill" for the image. If you like stylized art you'll agree these images are indeed "splendid"!

I also like the variety of leaf choices: maple, oak and hmmm . . . Thats a compound leaf of some sort. Could be an ash or walnut or shagbark hickory. Lots of choices there.

Fall Thanksgiving card made with Stampin'UP!'s Autumn Splendor Stamp Set
Do you like the gold embossing? This card was actually featured on a previous post showcasing gold embossed leaves. I think that using gold embossing powder is so elegant and really helps you focus on the lines in the image.

Place your orders on-line here and have your order delivered directly to your door.

Leaf Stamp Sets for Fall - Part 2

Stampin'UP! has 3 Leaf Stamp Sets to choose from and they are all Drop dead GORGEOUS!

Today's post features: Gently Falling This set was designed to showcase 2-step stamping. Notice how each image in this set appears twice: once as an outline of the shape and veins and a 2nd time as the filled-in part of the image.

The first card below shows how this set was intended to be used. We did this card at the November Stamp-a-Stack. We gold embossed the veins of the leaves and then overstamped with the matching "fill-in" shape.

We used the outline stamps with a Versamark Pad to make the background on Always Artichoke. The sentiment is from a Stamp Set called Short and Sweet. The other colors on this card are Very Vanilla and Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze.

Fall Card made with Stampin'UP!'s Gently Falling Stamp Set Fall Card made with Stampin'UP!'s Gently Falling Stamp Set

This second card showcases another stamping technique called Thumping. Its a great way to distribute several colors on a stamp. This card was actually featured in an earlier post. And if you are interested in thumping check HERE.

Leaf Stamp Sets for Fall - Part 1

Stampin'UP! has 3 Leaf Stamp Sets to choose from and they are all Drop dead GORGEOUS!
Today's post features: French Foliage, which has 3 natural looking leaves and 3 additional stamps that can be used as background elements.

This first sample has the 3 leaves stamped randomly to mimic the way my yard looks after all the tree leaves have fallen. I especially love the stamp that gives the "splotches". It really adds to the realism of this image set.

Fall Card made using Stampin'UP!'s French Foliage stamp set
For the second card the leaf was stamped over one of the element stamps. I really like the look of the leaf on top the words. Notice the leaf is also in 2 colors to give it a more natural look. The leaf was inked with More Mustard and then Cajun Craze was sponged around the edge of the stamp before applying it to the paper.
The Card is stamped on Naturals White instead of Whisper White. The Naturals White looks more . . .  well it looks more natural. The whisper white was too intense and clean.
The border on the bottom was created with Stampin'UP!'s Lace Border Punch   The French Foliage stamp set is available in either wood(#120845) or clear mount(121166).
Here are 3 more samples from previous posts that use this same stamp set.

Fall Card made using Stampin'UP!'s French Foliage stamp set

Be sure to check back in the next 2 days as we feature 2 other beautiful leaf sets.

Shrinky Dink Earrings with the Stocking Accessories Die

Shrinky Dink Earrings made with the Stampin'UP! Stocking Accessories Die
Here is a quick Jewelry project made with Shrinky Dinks and the Stocking Accessories Die. Start with the colorless Shrinky Dink sheets and cut the shape with the Stocking Accessories Die and your Big Shot. Then sponge green color on one side and punch a hole with a 1/8" hole punch.  Then bake as directed.

Its important to punch the hole before baking because as the plastic shrinks it also gets thicker and would be impossible to punch after baking. I got the earring hardware at Ben Franklin.

Do you work with a Girl Scout Troop or other group of kids? This would be a fun project for them to make Holiday gifts for family and friends.

The kids would have just as much fun making the packaging as they would making the jewelry. The Bag is Stampin'UP!'s small Cellophane bag. I used a piece of cardstock with 2 holes to support the earrings. The bag top is the Top Note Die folded in half and decorated with the Snowflake Punch, a folded strip of polystitched ribbon and a self-stick Rhinestone. Time-wise this project would fit easily into a scout meeting.

Baby Booties with the Stocking Punch

These Baby Booties are Adorable! And they're made with the Stocking Builder Punch (#119882). These cards were made by one of my customers, Bonny Maly. Thank-you Bonny for allowing me to share your work. Bonny made these booties using just the punch, no stamping involved on the bootie itself. And notice how on the middle card she cut the top off the punched piece so it looks like a short little bootie. These are so cute. Who do you know who just had a baby?  Are you going to any baby showers soon?

Turn your cards into Gift Cards: Bonny included a surprise in her cards. She made a pocket on the inside of her card with a cute tag that she can attach a gift card to or put money in the pocket. Now what new mom wouldn't love that?

Buy your own Stocking Builder Punch (#119882)

Don't you just LOVE being able to shop at home and have your purchases delivered right to your door!  With the holiday gift giving season fast approaching this is a real advantage. While you're there why not buy the Cookie Press Stamp Set - it makes a great Holiday Gift. Read more about the Cookie Press Stamps here.

Good luck with your Gift Shopping

My Hostess Gift for November and December

For many people, the Holiday Season is Party Season. While you may be thinking about Thanksgiving family gatherings and Christmas and New Year's Parties, there is a good reason for you to be thinking about hosting a Stampin'UP! "party".

Earn and extra $35 during Nov and Dec when you host a qualifying partyStampin'UP! has a really great deal for Hostesses for November and December. Between now and Dec 15th, if your party has sales of at least $350 you will earn an extra $35 of FREE merchandise.
Hostess Gift made with the Big Shot Matchbox DieHand-Made Candy Gift Box: I have a gift for you too!  In addition to all the Hostess Benefits from Stampin'UP!, anyone who has a party with me during November and December will receive this Hand Made Candy Gift Box. You can keep it for yourself or use it as a gift for someone else. In fact, when you GO to someone's party, do you take them a Hostess Gift?  Imagine your friends receiving this and imagine their amazement when you tell them you made it yourself!

Hostess Gift made with the Big Shot Matchbox DieThis box is really easy to make! We did this at the November Big Shot Class.  Monday's post had a group photo of the class projects. To make this project we made 4 match boxes using Cherry Cobbler and the Match Box Die (#114890).

We decorated nuggets and Rolos with designer paper and put 4 decorated nuggets into 2 of the drawers and 6 decorated Rolos into the other 2 drawers. Cut strips 1-1/2" by 2-1/4" for the nuggets and use a 3/4" circle punch (#119873) for the Rolos. It fits the wide end of the Rolos.

We laid the drawers in the patter you see in the photo (there will be a small square in the middle between all the drawers). We used a piece of 4x4 cherry cobbler paper for the bottom and a decorated piece of 4x4 paper for the top. I think the 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain ribbon looks especially nice here. We used the black (#115615) but Stampin'UP! has 11 different colors of this ribbon (page 195 of the catalog which you can view online) Super Easy Project!

Be sure to check out other great projects made with the Big Shot

Where DO I get my ideas? I hear this from many folks. You may notice in the photo that credit is given to Rachel Durtschi. She is just one of the many talented ladies in my area Demonstrator group. Digital Software Does It All! Digital Scrapbooks, Digital Cards and more . . .

Do you have MyDigitalStudio? No I'm not accusing you of taking something that was mine - and that's not a typo. Its the name of Stampin'UP!'s digital photo-editing software:  "MyDigitalStudio".

This software does everything. It
  • edits photos
  • makes scrapbooks
  • makes cards
  • makes banners
  • makes flyers
  • makes calendars
  • edits videos too
Wow!

When you buy the software you are buying the technology to do the editing. It also comes with some of Stampin'UP!'s exclusive images and all our colors. You can, of course, make projects that are totally digital.

Or, like this card sample, you can make "hybrid" projects. The large scallop circle was printed from the computer. The small blue flower was punched and added to the computer print out. Notice how perfectly the colors match. That is the advantage of using Stampin'UP!'s digital software.

And through Monday (Nov 7th), in honor of National Digital Scrapbooking Day, Stampin'UP! is offering 4 FREE DIGITAL downloads.  Go to www.MyDigitalStudio.net to get your FREE downloads.

Digital Photo Holiday Greeting Card for Christmas

Photo Christmas Card made with Stampin'UP!'s My Digital Studio softwareOur family always sends a Photo Greeting card for Christmas. Usually I go to the local store with my digital photo on a thumb drive and then flip through all the available templates trying to find just the right one to match our personality and the colors of our clothing.

Instead of going to the store, I made this card using My Digital Studio. My Digital Studio is a software program sold by Stampin'UP! This program allows you to use your digital images to make scrapbooks, banners, cards, calendars, flyers . . . The software is designed to work with the Stampin'UP! colors and stamp sets.

FREE Digital Download: Tomorrow is National Digital Scrapbooking Day. In Honor of that Stampin'UP! is offering a FREE Digital Download.  You'll get stamp images, designer papers for backgrounds and images of embellishments.

You do not have to actually own the My Digital Studio software in order to use these images. Stampin'UP! is offering them free both as a way to promote the digital software program and as a way to collect feedback on your use of your digital photos.

www.MyDigitalStudio.net is a website devoted to digital scrapbooking. There is a whole network of people who create and share and answer each other's questions. Check out this site for inspiration and how-to's for using this software tool.
