Flowers as a Border is a Piece of Cake

This card really catches your eye with the intense colors of the designer paper and the sparkle from the glimmer paper.  The stamping is minimal and the whole thing went together very quickly . . . as the saying goes: as easy as a "piece of cake".

Actually, the stamp set used on this card is called Piece of Cake. I chose to use just the little flower image (the one that is supposed to be a cake topper) and instead use it to line the sentiment oval.

I love it when I find alternate ways to use a stamp, it really increases the value of a set. Click here to see a project where the flowers were used as intended (as a cake topper).

Color coordination brings a project together: I love this combination with its gorgeous shades of blues and greens. I also love that Stampin'UP! always lists the colors on the Designer Paper packs so you can coordinate ink colors, this green is Mint Macaron. Full product list is at the end of the post

Did you see all the different cakes in this set? The Piece of Cake set has lots of fun imagery expeciall if you're someone who likes to color.

And the set can be bundled with a matching punch.  The card on this post features the set of matching product: a brightly colored cake on a cake plate.

Of course the thing that makes the cake is the frosting, right?  This post shows 3 different ways to add shine to the frosting on the cakes.

Meant to Be Silver Heart Wedding Card

Whether its a wedding or an anniversary, you can't go wrong with silver foil paper. I actually made this for a wedding, but of course with the sentiment "love" it works for either.  And it doesn't even have to be a silver anniversary.

There's lots to "love" about this card. The sentiment die is found in the Sunshine Wishes Thinlets Set. The hearts and the scallop trim piece are part of the Be Mine Stitched Framelits Die Set. I really like the variety of dies in the Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies.

You get several different size and different shape hearts. And I especially like the matching scallops on the trim piece and the heart die that frames this stamp.  For a little added elegance you could add a thin strip of silver foil like I did on this card.

Rhinestones are a great way to add some sparkle and I love the convienence of Stampin'UP!'s rhinestones.  They're self-adhesive and come in a sheet with 3 different sizes.  The small size rhinestone is perfect to fit in the center of the stamped flowers in this heart.

Piece of Cake with Lollipops

This fun card is really easy to make.  Both the cake and the lollipop images are from the Piece of Cake stamp set and the cake plate is from the coordinating Cake Builder Punch.

Its all about the layers! 

Concept-wise this card is very easy . . . its the layers that add interest and make it look more complicated than it really is.

Do you get as excited as I do 

when I find a way to use up scraps? 

The cake was stamped on scrap paper, punched out, and colored with markers.

The lollipops were stamped directly on the white and the cake and cake plate were glued below them.

Layering adds dimension

An optional way you can get extra depth is by using foam Dimensionals to raise the piece with the circle off the background. (see product links below)

Every card needs a little sparkle and glitz

For this card I punched the cake plate from silver foil paper  I love the new Cake Builder Punch. I can't imagine trying to cut that cake plate and get the sides symmetrical and even.

Coordination is Key

This Designer paper strip from the Garden impressions Paper pack was perfect.  The image on the paper coordinated perfectly with the image on the cake.  And I used matching color markers to color in the lollipops and cake frosting.
