Super Simple Spooky Spider Halloween Card

Today I'm sharing a card I got from my downline Sue Adams.  What a great card. I LOVE the simplicity of this: a spider stamp, a greeting and the right colors.  This would be a great card for kids to make.  (scroll down to see a card I made with this set)

Spider Halloween Card made with Stampin'UP!'s Howl-o-ween Treat Stamp Set

Sue stamped the spider randomly and used Silver Dazzling Details glitter glue to make the spider's thread - because even a spooky Halloween card needs some sparkle, right?

My granddaughter would love doing this. There's no wrong way to make this card, the spiders can go anywhere. Of course I might want to help her with the glitter glue part, but really . . .  its so easy to squeeze out I think she could handle it.

Sue used markers on the sentiment stamp to get the multi-colored effect. Great combination, right?  Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Blackberry Bliss.  My granddaughter is pretty little so I'd probably have her stamp it in just one color, but I'm sure older kids can handle markers on the stamp just fine.

Both the sentiment and the spider are from a set called Howl-o-ween Treat. The set comes in either clear mount or wood mount.  AND there's a matching set of framelits available if you want them. Cute, cute cute! An owl, a witches hat, the creepy skull and a bone. And I find that I'm using the word BOO! on a lot of projects.

You can buy the framelits separately or Bundle the Stamps and Framelits and save 15%.  I'm so excited that Stampin'UP! is making matching sets like this.  It really expands what you can do with a set.

Here's a card I made with the Owl and pumpkin basket from the Howl-o-ween Treat set
and I cut them out with the matching Boo to You Framelit Dies

I love her sweet little flower - made with a punch from the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack. Its the same flower punch used on the Easel Card in my last post. In fact, if you check out the photo to the right you'll also notice that its the same punch used for the butterfly. Just use a pen to add antenna. Voila! the Flower becomes a bug. Dress Framelit Favors

The Senior Center in Monona is having a Fashion Show in May. I was honored to be asked to help design the Table Favors. Of course the first thing I thought of was our cute Dress Framelits Dies.

The Dress Framelit set has 3 basic shapes.
The dress on the right worked best for having a fold at the shoulders.

To cut the dress with the fold in the shoulder I folded the Designer Paper in half and made sure the fold line was inside the cut line of the framelit.

The decorations to the dress were simple:
  • A belt - made of ribbon with a bow
  • A shoulder "corsage" - made with a small punched scallop circle with a rhinestone in the center.
BTW: the small scallop punch is
On Sale through Monday
Its part of the Itty Bitty Punch pack,
normally $16.95, on sale this week for only $12.71
You can see all the Weekly Deals here.

And here's a ribbon tip:  I measured and cut the short strips for the belt itself and attached them with glue dots. But for the bow I found I needed about a 4" piece to comfortably tie the bow (at least with my fingers), but then the tails were too long and I was wasting a lot of ribbon cutting them down to size.  To avoid the waste I tied the knot while the ribbon was still on the spool and cut the knot off the spool.

The candies were easy to attach.  Just put a little strip of double sticky tape on the inside bottom "hem" of each dress and use the dress like a "tweezers" to pick up the candy. The dress is now directly attached to the sides of the candy and the candy is what lets it stand up. Voila!
