Yes, You Can Color on Velvet!

This card turned out so much more amazing than I'd planned.

Holiday Card featuring Stampin'Up!'s Christmas Gleaming stamp set and Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper showing that you can color on the plush velvet part of the paper

It started as a way to showcase the new Plush Poinsettia Vellum Specialty Paper. This paper has 3 fun designs that will add both visual interest and some fun texture to your projects.

Stampin'Up!'s Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper in 3 designs: Holly, Trellis and Poinsettia

For even more fun you can add color to the plush velvet part of the paper.
Yes - you can color on the flocked velvet!

The flocking on the vellum is white so I used our classic markers to color it.

You'll have better luck using Stampin'Up!'s Classic (water-based) markers versus the Blends.

The alcohol markers tend to bleed across the paper and give a less crisp image.

I didn't have the coordinating stamp set, but the Christmas Gleaming Stamp set has a nice holly stamp to match the plush in the paper. . . . And check out the berries - you can add more sparkle and shine with the Shimmery Crystal Effectsfull product list at the end of the post

To break up the large area of dark brown I added the holly stamp randomly for a background. Then, almost as an after thought, I colored those holly leaves with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. Oh My! That was pure inspiration because it totally makes the card.

Leave a comment and let me know what you think about this card, did it give you ideas for playing with velvet paper or for adding some sparkle and shine?  The paper is amazing.   BTW: you can get a sample of all three plush designs as part of a paper share I'm offering.  Click here for details on the Specialty Paper Trial Pack.

I hope you've been inspired and motivated to go play. And if you need any Stamping supplies I can help with that too . . .
