Fancy Folds Card Class - Telescope Card

We did a Telescope Card at the January Fancy Folds Class. At the Fancy Folds classes we make cards that do more than just open like a book. There is a big "wow" factor when you give these cards to someone and they suddenly realize the engineering behind the card.  I love giving people these special cards and watching their faces as they're amazed by what the card does.

How to make a telescope card - by StampLadyKatie

The concept of a Telescope card is very simple: you choose a shape and cut 3-4 layers at different sizes. Then you attach the layers with brads. The trick is that the brads only hold 2 layers - not all of them. And you place alternate brads on opposite sides of the project.

This image shows the idea using squares but you can use any shapes: circles, ovals, hearts . . .   Try it with the new Framelits dies. (put the word framelits in the search box to see these dies)

We did our Telescope card with circles and made this charming Snowman Card.  Isn't he cute!  And we hid a little secret message on his tummy.

Note that the arms point in different directions when the card is open versus when its closed.  Who do you know that would just be charmed by this little guy?

He is made with a variety of circle dies and punches. The embossing is Stampin'UP!'s Northern Flurry Embossing Folder.  The hat is made with the Curly Label Punch and the Word Window Punch and his arms are made with the Snowflake Punch.  I'll try to make a "recipe" card for him but shoot me an email if you want more detailed information about the punches and dies I used.
