New Cookie Press Stamps - Yum!

Stampin'UP! introduced a new kind of stamping this fall - stamping on cookie dough. The set comes with a sturdy wooden handle and 3 interchangeable rubber stamps: a blue snowflake, a red heart and an orange pumpkin. Perfect for all the fall and winter holidays.

What you see here is my messy kitchen the first time my daughter and I played with them. The set comes with 2 recipes: a shortbread recipe and a sugar cookie recipe. We tried both but what you see in the picture is the sugar cookies.

The instructions suggest to roll out the dough, stamp the image and cut with a cookie cutter or doughnut cutter. Thats what you see in the top photo. Helpful Hint: we found it useful to dip the cookie stamp in flour between stamping the dough. Maybe our dough was too sticky (I confess to being somewhat cooking challenged) This process makes a lovely cookie, perfectly round with smooth edges.

An alternate suggestion was to roll the dough into a ball and use the cookie press to smash the dough flat. We tried that too. The cookies are less round and the edges are not smooth - but they're just as yummy!

In fact you can taste them yourself at the Christmas Open House next Wednesday (the 26th). See the full calendar of events here. Call to reserve your goodie bag 608-220-3450! There will be treat bags for everyone who RSVP's.

What kind of holiday baking do you do?  Do the kids help? Can't you just imagine the fun the kids will have making these cookies as well as eating them.

And really, cooking together with kids is such a great way to build memories and family traditions. Stampin'UP! is a family oriented company and this is one product that supports strong families.
