Breathtaking Bouquet Happy Birthday to You

Background Stamping Series Post #3
 Background stamps can add a visual richness and depth to a project.

This card uses Stampin'UP!'s Breathtaking Bouquet

. . . heat embossed in white on a Pretty Peacock (color) background

The background stamp adds visual depth
There is also real depth with the birthday cake
stamped - colored - cut-out and raised using dimensionals
full product list at the end of the post

Dimensionals - Yay!
Those little double-sticky foam dots can really enhance a project.
And on this project a Yay for the Frosted Epoxy Droplets

used on the centers of the flowers on the cake. 

A few other details to note:

1. The sentiment was heat embossed in white on Vellum Cardstock
   to make the sentiment stand out I put a black strip behind it
2. The background was heat embossed in white
   The high contrast on this card really captures the attention.  

We've begun a series of posts on Facebook about different ways to use background stamps. The first one dealt with the issue of contrast.  Coming up will be partial stamping and creative coloring.

Lovely Lattice with Pieced Flowers

Time for another Blog hop - this one featuring Sale-a-bration Products. This card was made with the Lovely Lattice Stamp set and features a fun coloring technique:  Paper Piecing.  I also have a tip to share on how to add sparkle to your stamped sentiment.

This card looks so clean and fresh, perfect for spring. Given the fact that I live in Wisconsin and my driveway has 2 inches of ice from a freak storm last week and covered with 10 inches of snow and we're due for another half-foot today . . . I am ready for spring! But not too ready, because I want Sale-a-bration to last a little while longer.

For those readers who don't know about Sale-a-bration it is Stampin'Up!'s biggest sale of the year.  EACH qualifying merchandise purchase during Sale-a-bration earns you a free item from either the Sale-a-bration catalog or one of these 3 additional options from the 2nd release. Are you someone who likes to color? This set is perfect for you with the open flower imagery.  In the closeup above you can see that I did color some of the flowers and the leaves on the white card face.

You'll also notice on the larger flowers that I did some paper piecing.  Paper Piecing is a fun technique to add some dimension to a project.  Its super easy: 

• Stamp the image on colored paper
• Cut out with a scissors and glue onto the main project

Did you notice I used my markers on the colored paper too! I even colored the sentiment with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush - because you can never have too much sparkle, right?
