Paper Piecing using Breathtaking Bouquet - Part 2

Paper Piecing is a fun and easy way to color a project.
Yesterday's card was simple with just 1 added layer.
Today's project was stamped on 4 different colors
featuring the Breathtaking Bouquet background stamp

Technique for paper crafting: paper Piecing shown with Stampin'UP!'s Breathtaking Bouquet Background Stamp

The concept of paper piecing is easy
Stamp on several different colors and cut out all the images

Then layer the cut pieces to re-assemble the image

One special note on this card.
The sentiment is punched out with the Pretty Label Punch
But I had to make it longer to fit the image.

These pictures show how

Paper Piecing using Breathtaking Bouquet - Part 1

The large flower image on the Breathtaking Bouquet background
stamp works well for today's fun technique: Paper Piecing

The concept is easy:
stamp the same image several times on different color paper
Cut each image and reassemble the parts in different colors

Card featuring Paper Piecing and made with Stampin'UP!'s large flower background stamp: Breathtaking Bouquet

For this first card I simply layered
the yellow piece on the darker base

The gold heat embossing adds some extra shine.

With the darker colors and "busyness" of the image
the challenge was how to make the sentiment
fit in, be seen but not overwhelm the card

The solution was to heat emboss on Vellum
and layer on punched pieces.

Today's paper pieced project was a simple 1-layer card.
For an example of more complicated paper-piecing

Or check back tomorrow for a more complicated card
made with Breathtaking Bouquet.

Dimension with Paper Layers using Good Morning Magnolia

Today's project shows an easy way to create dimension as well as advocating for one of my favorite must-have craft tools.  The technique is paper-layering and the must-have tool is my paper snips.

The card itself if very clean and simple, yet also very elegant. The elegance comes from the stark color contrast and the gold embossing. The paper piecing adds one more subtle way to catch the eye.

To be effective you need to choose an image that has some layers.  The flower in the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set was perfect.
  • I stamped and gold embossed it 3 times. Once on the green and twice on the pink.
  • The pink flower was then cut out and adhered to the green base
  • Then I trimmed just part of the flower and adhered it with Dimensionals (little double-sticky bits of foam) to raise the center of the flower up from the base.

I'm sure you understand the importance of the Dimensionals, those little foam bits that help raise up the center of the flower.  I just want to stress how important the scissors are too.  A good pair of paper scissors makes all the difference and the Stampin'UP! Paper Snips are the best I've found. The blades are long and narrow and have the best cutting edge for paper that I've used. If you've ever been frustrated when cutting small pieces of paper then these Paper Snips are the solution to your problem. There is a full list of supplies and buying links at the bottom of the post.

I also liked the image from Good Morning Magnolia set because the single image offered 3 layers:  the leaves, the flower base and the center of the flower.

Thanks for visiting the blog today. I hope you give paper piecing a try. Its a fun and easy technique and definitely will get a "wow" response from people who see your work.  I'd love to hear your thoughts and comments below.

I hope you have an INKcredible day
