Coloring on Colored Cardstock

 When was the last time you stamped your focal point on colored cardstock? 
You get a totally different look than if stamping on white
... and you can use markers to color on colored cardstock too.

On darker cardstocks, try heat embossing the image to help make it "pop"

And for added interest on a card like this
try stamping the floral image in the background using Versamark

Ombre Emboss Resist with Breathtaking Bouquet

Today's card features a combination of 2 techniques: 

an ombre coloring combined with a heat emboss resist

Heat Emboss Resist is an easy technique,

you heat emboss an image and apply color over it. 

The paper accepts the ink but the material used to emboss does not.

With an emboss resist your color choice can produce different results...

In that post I applied the color with an art sponge
For the ombre effect on today's card I used a sponge brayer
While I'm sure you could use a sponge for this,
given the large area I felt I got better coverage with the brayer.

The image is the Breathtaking Bouquet background stamp
which is very "busy". So the sentiment needed to be big and bold.

The sentiment is from a set called Seriously the Best
And not to get too punny on you, but combining
a heat resist with ombre coloring gives a background
that truly is seriously, the best!

Versatile Versamark with Daisy Delight

The project for today was made to showcase the versatility of Versamark.  In an recent post I mentioned the things I thought should be basic to everyone's stamping supplies and the Versamark ink pad is definitely on the list.

The images on this card are from a set called Daisy Delight. If you've been reading past posts you saw another card recently posted using this set for a color combo blog hop. You can see that card here.

The colors on this card are much softer and elegant: pink and green with gold highlights.  There's even a gold tint in the Faceted Jewel in the center of the flower. By the way if you get these Gems you're going to love the fact that they're self-adhesive.

The green strip down the side is the part that shows the versatility of the Versamark Ink.

Versamark is a gooey thick ink that has 2 main uses for card-making.  First, its gooey nature makes it a perfect ink to stamp an image that you want to heat emboss.  Sprinkle the powder over the Versamark image and it sticks well enough to hold it in place under the heat tool. The gold leaves on this card were heat embossed.

Second: the ink in the Versamark pad also reacts with paper to leave behind a watermark.  The darker leaves on this strip were stamped in versamark and left to dry.
