Dies for Easter Eggs

The title for this post is not mis-spelled. We're talking about dies, not dyes.
I get it, Easter eggs and dye. But these eggs were die-cut using oval dies. 

Die cut an oval from white card stock
Then die cut more partial ovals from designer paper

BTW: this nested ovals die set is retiring the end of April

 If you're like me you probably have lots of designer paper scraps
that would make some awesome looking Easter Egg cards.

The Easter bunnies are just as easy to make
using the Snowman Punch and the Daisy punches

Birds and More Dies Easter Card

 This eye-catching Easter Card was made using dies from the
Stampin'Up! Birds and More die set.

This card is so sparkly!
The eggs are die cut from Stampin'Up!'s Rainbow Glimmer paper
with extra sparkle coming from the Gold Metallic Edge ribbon bow.

 

Its easy to create the look of a wood panel door
by embossing with Stampin'Up!'s Pinewood Planks embossing folder
and sponging some light brown ink over the raised areas.

 

So many things make this card special
The layered leaves for the wreath itself
The use of foam adhesive sheets to give dimension to the words

The Birds and More die set is not an Easter set
but its does have eggs and the foliage die cuts
can be cut up and arranged into a wreath.

I bought this set for the birds
but was especially excited
when I realized I could use it for Easter too.

Timeless Tulips in Soft Pastels

Today's card features the Timeless Tulip Stamp set.

Its spring here in Wisconsin and while there's no flowers yet 

the leaves are beginning to peek through the ground.

Tulips come in a huge variety of colors, but for this card I chose soft pastels:

Highland Heather,    Blushing Bride     So Saffron    Mint Macaron

Tulips and flowers in general are nice, but the main reason for this post

is to talk about colors, specifically the Stampin'UP! color pallette.

Perhaps you've experienced this too?  I clearly remember years ago a card I was really excited about, but my supplies had been cobbled together from a variety of sources:  dollar store ink, big box store paper and garage sale ribbon. 

I spent a lot of time on that project and when it was finished it looked terrible. Everything was pink, but they were different pinks and the colors really clashed.

I now buy all my color product from Stampin'UP! Yes, they have pretty colors and a good variety of colors. But the important thing for me is that everything color coordinates!

Sets of colors blend nicely with each other

and everything in a single color is a perfect match
Inks, ribbons, paper, markers, embellishments, they all match.

The current catalog offers 2 choices of ribbon in Mint Macaron
Both are drop dead gorgeous and since I couldn't decide I just made both!

The card at the top of the post has the 1/8" ribbon
this one has the 1/4" ribbon.

Friends and Flowers - a Versatile Set

One thing that makes a stamp set truly worth the investment is when it can be used for a variety of occasions.  And that is certainly true for Stampin'UP's new "Friends and Flowers" stamp set.  This set is versatile enough to cover a wide variety of occasions from birthdays to babies, weddings, Easter and more. 

Just imagine all the fun playing with these shapes!

 I spent a fun weekend playing with this set and here are just a few of my projects. Of course I made some flowers too, but I started with some non-flower samples.

 

The face could work for lots of different animals, but with petal shapes in the set and Easter just a few months away it seemed obvious to try a few bunnies.

 

That sweet little baby in the peapod was next on my list. 

What a cutie!

And last but not least, a fish.  Notice the perfectly symmetrical green plants? and the perfectly cut fins?  Thats not me and my scissors - Stampin'UP! has a punch that matches this stamp set. Whoohoo! I am not one for fussy cutting!
