Tile Coasters with a Quilted DSP Pattern

I have a good friend who is an avid quilter and I made these tile coasters for her birthday. 

Tile coasters are very easy to make, they just are not a quick project.  So as long as you make them several days ahead they're an impressive easy gift.  And this particular pattern was a great way to use up some DSP scraps.

Materials:

• 4" square tiles (I get mine at my local Habitat for Humanity Re-Store)
• ModPodge and foam brush
• Paper decoration

Step by step instructions are super easy

1. make your focal point on paper
2. be sure the tiles are clean and dry
3. cover both the tile and the back of the paper with a thin layer of Modpodge 
4. on the dry upper surface of the paper start at the center and work to the edges to remove all the bubbles from under the paper
5. then brush a thin layer of modpodge over the top being sure to seal the edges
6. allow to dry and repeat as many layers as you feel looks good (I usually add 2-3 more layers of ModPodge)
7. Seal with an acrylic spray sealer (to protect from condensation from a cold glass)
8. Adhere felt furniture feet on the bottom to each corner - to protect furniture from the tile

Voila done.

I also like to make a matching pretty package to deliver the gift.

3D Trades from our June Madison Demo Meeting

One of the things I love best about being part of Stampin'UP! is the friendships I've made with other local demonstrators. I am truly blessed to know these super talented and wonderful people. I'm actually part of  several demonstrator groups. I meet monthly with my own downline - we call ourselves the INKcredible Crafty Crew and I hope if you ask them they'd say the gatherings are INKcredible!  Or at least that they learn something and have fun.

I'm also part of a larger group of local stampers called the Madison Area Stamping Stars. We are a group of about 40 people around the Madison/Dane county area who gather 3x a year . . . each time there's a new Stampin'UP! catalog. Now, our main reason for meeting is to learn about the new product and get samples and ideas for using it with our customers. But of course there's lots of gabbing and socializing because over the years we've made some pretty good friendships.

Playful Pals Decorated Spiral Notebook

Isn't this spiral notebook just the cutest?

I got this as a 3D trade from one of my downline: Sue Adams.

Sue started with a small spiral notebook and carefully unwound the metal spiral.

She replaced the original cover with a piece of colored cardstock, carefully lining up and punching holes in the new cover. It looks original right?

Then she decorated the cover.  For her decoration Sue used images from 2 stamp sets:

 Playful Pals and Swirly Bird.  

 

Re-covering a notebook is actually pretty easy
and it sure does make an impressive gift when you go all-out decorating the front
with a playful pal like this.

Botanical Blooms Water Bottle

Look at this cute water bottle I got at a recent meeting.  Everyone who attended had one of these waiting for them at their seat. My goodness, it was so pretty I almost didn't want to use it.

 

The basic construction is really easy.

• You start with a strip of paper and fold the bottom end up to form the pocket for some tea or a flavor packet.
• Fold the top down and punch a hole to slip over the top of the water bottle. 
• Then decorate and make it pretty like this one.

  

The decorations are from the Botanical Blooms product suite found in the new Occasions Catalog. Deb Geier and Norma Artman made them for the attendees to our last Madison Area Demonstrator Meeting. Click here to see another project I made with these dies.
