Gift Wrapped Color Combo Blog Hop

Today's project is part of a blog hop. I am participating with demonstrators from across the globe as we play with this month's color challenge: Mossy Meadow, Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate.

I enjoy these color challenges because they force you to think differently about the project. I do love blues and greens so I wanted an image that would let them work together. The Smoky Slate then served as a background.

The simple image today is the gift box so the focus can be on the color. I embossed the Smoky Slate piece for the package and stamped the bow with one of the images from the Gift Wrapped stamp set.  While it is an easy image to cut with scissors, still, its nice that this stamp set has a coordinating punch.

The theme here is stripes:  *thin borders on the card layers . . . *stripes on the stamped bow image . . . * and stripes in the actual ribbon.

I did two things to tie the parts together (pun intended)

  1. The stamped bow was silver embossed to match the silver metallic edge on the ribbon
  2. I colored the ribbon with Stampin' Blends to match the stripping in the stamped bow.

Coloring white ribbon is a quick and easy way to coordinate colors on a project. I hope I've inspired you to get out the stamping supplies and play. Do take a minute though to check out the other stops on our hop for today. Next up is Rochelle Laird-Smith
