I {Heart} Punch Art

Are you a fan of punch art?  I am, and I get really excited when a punch goes on sale.

The Full Heart Punch - which is retiring - is on sale this week.

The idea of punch art is just thinking of alternate uses for the shape.  

Here's a few ideas from a recent class I did using the Full Heart Punch.

Put 2 hearts together with a circle to make a bow.
Its used here as a hair bow, but you could use it for a bowtie too.

Cut the heart in half to make a this cute bird couple.

Combine the heart with a small oval punch to make this paw print.

The weekly sale can really save you money:

This week there are a couple of "big ticket" items on sale: the Perfect Pennants Die and the Tasteful Trim Die.  Both are retiring and both are great shapes for quilters.

Are you a quilter?

The Perfect Pennants Die (123126) and the Tasteful Trim Die (120893) are both really versatile shapes for doing fabric piecing and quilting.

These are steel cut dies which means they can cut several layers of fabric at the same time . . . a real advantage for quilters who often need to mass produce lots of fabric thats all the same shape.

These dies were designed to work with the Big Shot die cutting machine.  They are too large for the bed of the Cuttlebug, but should work with any die cut machine that has a large enough bed. 

Quilters Love the Big Shot Machine.  

Its a real time saver for cutting multiple pieces and there are a wide range of dies on the market.

Both of these dies are retiring at the end of this catalog cycle. Which means as of now they are available only while supplies last. Heart Punch Art - Dog Paw

Isn't punch art fun! This cute dog paw was made with the Small Oval Punch and the Full Heart Punch. 

If you like punch art as much as I do then you share my eager anticipation of the new catalog. I just can't wait to see what new punch shapes we'll get.

If you've paid attention to what's retiring then you know that both of the current heart punch shapes are going. Click here to see a smaller paw made with the small heart punch and circles.

Don't worry - we're not losing the option to cut hearts - just this particular heart shape. Hearts can be many shapes, tall and skinny or more 'square' like the one used to make this paw. The new heart punch will have a deeper more curvy indentation on the top.

I don't mind losing this punch because its almost the exact same size as the smallest heart in the set of heart framelits.  But if you don't have a die cut machine like the Big Shot and if you love this particular heart shape, then be sure to get it before it retires for good. All retiring product can be purchased through June 4, but only while supplies last.
